I've read that in other towns it's easy to find food and water. But in my
dwarven home town of Kaladim, my 4th level cleric, Clement, is having a tough
time finding inexpensive food. NPCs tell you to go to the "Eats" or the Pub,
but in those places I only find expensive alcoholic beverages and rations that
cost over a silver. I'm saving my silvers for new spells.

I've found relatively inexpensive drink. (milk, 6 coppers) But the only way
I find eggs, for example, is by killing things.

Any help in finding a place to buy basic food and water would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

When I had to buy food & drink I usually went to the closest building
outside to the city entrance (exit the city & hang a left). Even so, food
costs around 15c (though I believe he sells milk for around 8c). It's the
vendor right inside the door.

If you want to waste lots of time, buy a fishing pole. If you're worried
about the cost, just catch more than you need & sell the extra to a
merchant. Assuming your pole doesn't break, it'll easily pay for itself if
you want it to.

Or you can corner a nearby 9+ level cleric or any magician and ask them to
summon you some food & drink. :) It's gone if you log, but at least you'll
have saved some time & money.

Check the huts outside Kaladim. One of them sells food and water or milk.
Also, I never tried there, but often a shop near where they sell fishing
pools and bait will sell fish cakes.

I found that lots of people sold snake eggs back to the vendors, If
you check out the vendors that people typically sell things to, you'll
often find snake eggs for sale at around the same price as a bottle of
milk. Just buy them up whenever you see them because AFAIK there
isn't a vendor who actually stocks them, they are just the result of
player sales.

If you take the road to the left as you exit Kaladim, and follow it, it
goes to the docks... get on the boat and go to Freeport where they
sell plenty of food and water! Just joking! =) when you get to the docks
there's a High Elf vendor that sells milk, and it's only a couple of minute
run from the Kaladim gate.

Actually, when you exit Kaladim its the road to the RIGHT that leads to the
docks.

you can also fish, and eat your catch for free. the pole does cost youa few
gold, and does break from time to time. however, i would just buy the food,
you be conjuring it in 4 levels. You should have plenty of cash for
leathers, spells, and food by 9th.

You can buy basic rations and water flasks at the third hut you come
to after hanging a left outside of the gates of Kaladim. It's very
close. It's also the only place in the whole BB zone (that I'm aware
of) to buy food and drink.
