Anyone have an interest in porting Eamon over to I7 (Inform 7)? By
this I mean the basic system (i.e. Main Hall), not the individual
games (which would be nice, but definitely a project for another
day). If so - please ley me know by posting here.

Thanks,

That's actually something that I've considered, merely for the purpose
of keeping the world of Eamon alive somewhere. I wrote a brief article
about it back a few years ago (available at http://www.eamonag.org/pages/eamon_IF.htm)
and dabbled in the conversion of a couple of my favorite adventures
over to Inform.

Having said that, I'm interested only for that purpose. At this stage
in my life, I do not have the time or resources to actually write
either an Eamon adventure or an Inform game (although it would be
fun). In the current Eamon community, it's a rather thankless project
and not worth the hundreds of hours of work that a good adventure
requires. In the Inform community, it would be the outcast oddball
compared to the IF standards of today. It would either lose appeal to
the current IF community due to it's simplicity, or it would no longer
be true to itself by becoming an advanced and complicated piece of
work.

Nevertheless, just because I'm not interested in developing it
personally, doesn't mean that I wouldn't love to see it developed. In
fact, as the webmaster of the Eamon Adventurer's Guild website, I'd be
more than happy to host an Inform/Eamon conversion, similar to what I
currently do for Eamon Deluxe. Just let me know.

My reasons for undertaking such a task would be similar. Rather than
writing a new game I'd like to port some of the better already
existing games over to I7 in the hopes that it would interest at least
a few I7 authors enough to write new Eamon games themselves. But to
do that the Main Hall is the first step. I am going to make a stab at
it, but since I have absolutely no programming experience, it is going
to be slow going, which is why I am seeking collaborators for the
effort. I'll try to post updates on progress here would will gladly
take you up on the hosting offer.

Thanks,

Paul Sanders

P.S. Any data on numbers of people who have downloaded Crypt Crashers
from your website? I'm curious as to how many people there are who
still play "new" Eamon games.
