she came across this interesting aspect about the extramarital dalliances
of Atlanta's
former Mayor Bill Campbell. His little anchor babe was Canadian. she black
herself noted that can't
say she knows too many black Canadians, so that does make it slightly more
cool. She
now is anchoring in Chicago, and married to some lawyer with brats.
Marion Brooks: Co-Anchor NBC5
A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Marion Brooks was raised in
Portland,
OR and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Spelman College in
Atlanta,
GA. Her television career began at WABG-TV in Greenville, Miss., as weekend
anchor.
From 1991-1993, she worked as a general assignment reporter and morning
anchor at
WJKS- TV in Jacksonville, FL. She then worked at KTVI-TV in St. Louis, MO as
weekend
anchor and general assignment reporter.
Prior to joining the NBC5 news team in Chicago in January 1998, Brooks
worked as
anchor/reporter for WSB-TV In Atlanta, GA. She is currently the co-anchor of
NBC5
4:30 and 5:00 p.m. weekday newscasts. Brooks is a member of the National
Association
of Black Journalists. She has won numerous awards including 2 Chicago
Midwest Emmy,
the Associated Press Award for Investigative Reporting, and the Regional
Edward
R. Murrow Award. Her work has also been recognized and honored by the
National Mental
Health Association, Illinois Mental Health Association, and Chicago
Association
of Black Journalists, 2000
