Torturing the Lord of the Land

I am on mission 9 of DK, I have killed all four wizards and the Lord of
the Land has appeared and I have captured and imprisoned him.

The manual says if you complete the mission and you have captured the
Lord of the Land you can press space to end mission and then go to
torture him.

I waited and waited but no end mission message appeared so I saved the
game reloaded and killed the Lord of the Land and I got the mission end
message.

Is the manual wrong on this one????

I have the same problem, but trying it on some of the other missions (I
forget which ones), you will find that you will be able to complete your
mission and still be able to torture him. Only certain missions will
actually allow you to complete the mission with the Lord of the Land still
alive.

As far a I know the only level where you can torture the lord of the
land is level 7.

Maybe you're right. It has been several months since I have played Dungeon
Keeper. I have been too busy trying to get by the first couple of levels in
Deeper Dungeons.

You either have to kill him or convert him.
Just capturing him is not enough.
Manual must be wrong.

IME, you can only torture the Lord of the Land if his experience level
is low enough that he can't use the heal spell (Just the one level).
Same thing goes for the levels where you have to kill all the heroes, if
you have a hero with the healing spell in prison, you can't win.

Just drop them in the torture chamber. Heroes can't heal themselves while
they're being tortured. Eventually, they'll die or convert to your side.
If you want them to convert, force-feed them chickens or use the heal spell
on them while they're being tortured. Some of them can hold out for a long
time, but if you don't let them die, they'll convert eventually.
