Yes. Anything Big. It won't eat your harvester.

There are 2 easy ways to kill Sandworms:

1) Playing as Harkonen, your troops will shoot the sandworms. Shoot them enough,
and they die. Strangly they only need to be damaged halfway to die.

2) Feed them surplus troops or tanks. Just drive tanks over the worm to attract
it. After 4-5 tanks, the worm should die.

Chris.

I'm pretty sure I killed a sandworm once... it with right in front
of a group of about 20 rocket turrets and just got destroyed. It definitely
went into the red zone, but I guess it's technically possible that it simply
disappeared before it hit zero health... but it seemed like it was killed.
This only happened to me once, though... in the hundreds of hours I spent
playing the game.

Yeah right! NOT!!!

Many sandworms have eaten my harvester just when it was about to
deploy :(

So they don't die. They just go down under.

Never tried that one. 'Think that doesn't work either...

Cool! I have never seen a sandworm explode. Must be a giant explosion!

Sounds like it would be easier as Harkonnen. Must try!

Yea, it does. The worm dosn't die: it gets full and never comes back.

Ever played with the fremen patches? Way cool! no tanks etc but you get the
sandworms as your very own munch anything the enemy has vehicle of death!

Of course, the 4 controll buttons for the sandworm are "Attack,"
"Attack," "Attack," and, of course, "Attack"

Good report! That's the kind of data I was looking for. To me, you only kill
a sandworm when you hear the explosion. I'm predicting that if you could trap
one and drive the health to zero, the explosion would be enormous. I'm just
wondering if there is a voice sample ("Sandworm destroyed") or some other cue.
Sorry to be such a pest. You're the first person I ever talked to who got the
health down that far!

Where is this coming from? I've fed three harvesters to a single sandworm before.

They don't die. They go away.

Chris, there's a big difference between killing a sandworm and making it go away.
I'm wondering if you ever heard an explosion. Sounds like you just fed it or
annoyed it. I'm not trying to be sticky, I'm just trying to "conduct research".
I really want to know if anyone has ever made a sandworm explode.

Each sandworm seems to have a quota of 3 objects. Feed them this, and they
dissapear for that particular mission.

They don't always appear to eat stationary objects though... I guess that this
is intentional, as they are supposed to be attracted to noise...

Sandworms are actually quite easy to kill.

The best way to get rid of them (if you find them right at the start
of the mission) is to feed them harvesters. This is really only viable
if you have only 1 refinery. Empty the harvester and then drive it
around on the sand just in front of the refinery. It will be eaten by
the Sandworm. You will then have a new harvester delivered. Drive it
out onto the sand and allow the Sandworm to eat it. It takes about 5
or 6 and the Sandworm disappears.

Alternatively, line up your firepower along the edge of the rock and
use 1 vehicle to lure the Worm down into the kill zone. Attack with
all weapons. It takes time but is perfectly do-able.

cheers,

Mic.

There's a hell of a bang when an Ordos saboteur and a worm try to
occupy the same spot at the same time. Both disappear.

Hehe...hit it with a Death Hand :)
or, maybe lure it in to a devastator, and then selfdestruct it as its
getting eaten or something....

That can get really old when you need money and there are three worms
dogging your harvester!

Anyone who has played this game has fed sandworms and gotten rid of them.
To me, that is like feeding lions at the zoo. Not killing them. I have
attacked them and pushed their health into the yellow zone, at the half-
way point, and they also go away. Neither of those scenarios actually
kills the worm. It only makes it go away. Do you see the distinction now?
I'm not talking about feeding the worm, or annoying it. I'm talking about
destroying it. I've never been able to do it, and never seen it done,
and never heard of it, until the report cited above.

Not many people liked Dune I. I have the disks somewhere, but I got it
after Dune II and I never was able to get into it very much. Does anyone
know if there was ever an FAQ written for Dune I?
