Is this spec the result of rogge...@aol.com reverse engineering the
wad file or was roggerffff provided information by id software that
he in turned used to produce this document.

I'd have a much higher confidence in its accuracy if I knew id had released
the file definition to roggerffff.

Just from reading through it, it seems pretty apparent that he didn't have
a whole lot of help from ID when writing it (though he seems to have figured
out quite a lot of stuff).

These unofficial specs are clearly the result of reverse-engineering,
since they are incomplete (witness the item type codes table) and even
incorrect in some spots. They are still quite valuable, however - if you
take information from the various sources posting to the net, and follow
up with your own investigations, you can probably figure out everything
you need to know for whatever you're doing.

My hat's off to Roger for his hard work and insight. I know just how
tough it can be to RE a piece of software as complex as DOOM.
