Good point. However, my deathmatch preference would certainly
be Quake, and not Doom, thus I'm not familiar with any of the
"modern" Doom PWADs. (And I've lost interest in single-player
games of such a kind quite a while ago.)
DOSBox can certainly be quite good for DOS games of 1980s and
early 1990s, but some of the later protected mode games run
better under QEMU, especially if the hardware virtualization CPU
feature is available and enabled.
