I have spent the last 3-4 weeks rewriting DoomCAD from SCRATCH in Borland
Delphi (DoomCAD used to be in Visual Basic). The first results of that
project is now ready. The new Doom editor is called dCAD (as in
DelphiCAD, I guess). It can handle Doom/Doom2/Heretic/Hexen editing,
although Hexen script support is not built in: you create the script
yourslef, compile it using ACC, then specify the compiled filename when
you save your WAD. There's also no node builder, as DoomCAD's was buggy
anyway. I recommend WARM, and will probably include it in the first
release version of dCAD.
dCAD is about 10x faster than it's VB cousin. It's also easier to use,
in my opinion.
Thorough testing has not been done. I decided to release the beta as
soon as possible and get all interested parties using it to provide
feedback. Please do.
As of now, the beta is on the Software Creations BBS (see Doom readme for
#). I will try and find a Web site to post it to soon.
