Heretic, what's the big deal?

second level), but what's the big deal about it? I personally thought
Doom is better because some sound effects of Heretic sound "wimpish" such
as the wand thing. It makes a puny sound, compared to Doom's aswesome
shotgun sound, and the it's machine gun sound (great powerful stuff).
It's just like a another wad for doom, basically. I can't stand those
bats in Heretic, they drive me nuts. Doom just has a more "rough"
and "manly" feel, which I like better. But it's still nice playing a new
game now and then. Heretic's monsters aren't as frightening (so far),
aren't as "raw" and "powerful" as Doom's.

Yeah, but you gotta remember the wand in Heretic is the equilvent (sp) to
the pistol in Doom. And the pistol wasn't all that fun either. The
crossbow is more like it, and powered up it's alot of fun. Like part of the
setting, remember this is the first level it's supposed to weak, the game
gets much better in later levels. Although the monsters aren't take cool
accept for the axemen and the lichs, i figure we'll see a few baddies in the
final registered version; along with the rest of the weapons. As as sounds,
well those lichs really freaked me out when I first came across them, as far
as sound goes it could be a little better, but hey we can edit all that
later! :)
As far as the editing goes, Heretic looks awesome! New sector types for
elements like wind/currents, and ambient noise types. Plus there maybe a
few new line defs, not sure though. The whole morph ovum brings in new
possibilties as well.
In all I think is a blast every better 4 player, it's a differnt theme than
doom, with some new capabilities, can't wait to star editing!
