DM.EXE in Heretic-Wads?

Deathmatch modem/network menu program that allows you to use phone lists,
pick game type, dificulty and maps, deathmatchs, and the important part
(to me), is the ability to use pwads in modem play.
I used to use a program called ser4 in doom V1.2 to play pwads over the
modem. This is great fun, cuz there are a lotta pwads made especilly for
deathmatch. 'sides, after you learn all the levels, ya need "new turf" to
scrap on. Half of the fun is tryiing to find where the good weapons and
power-ups are, andd then "wiping" yer opponent.
Since Doom II and Heretic have come out, ser4 doesn't work anymore.
I've tried ser6, but the game only went into a black screen with little
white lines dancing on the bottom of the screen an no game! Bummer!
DM.EXE is supposed to fix the problem with adding pwads in modemn
games, (dying to try out the Heretic wads!), but it works fine, only if
you DO NOT select pwads option. If you do, you will get a message of
"problem ECEVing sersetup", and, back to DOS. Damn! Bummer, BUMMER!
Has anybody actually been able to play with pwads on a modem game in
Doom II or Heretic? And if so, How the hell did you do it, man? I do
believe that all this crap can be launched from the command line, using
sersetup, ie: sersetup -com2 -irq3 -dial 5551212 -file doom2dm2.wad (and
on and on...). Who needs this crap?!!! There's gotta be a better way!
If you know of any programs that will work, *please* include address
where to get if you know. And please help *soon*, going freaking bats,
here in Pompano Beach! And of cousre, e-mail is welcome.

I got the same error when I used F1 to select respawn and dmatch 2.0.
What gives?

I have had to use sersetup and a host of commands to connect too!
Also, it seems the -record does not work unless you add the -devparm also.
Then you get a .LMP similar to the v1.2 DOOM ones, where if you die, the
.LMP ends! Anyone figure out how to make a good .LMP deathmatch of
HERETIC with the -maxdemo option?

had much luck with the other place. I gotta be carefull with the calls
to Miami, Doom is addictive in modem play and if I actually get on a four
player Dmatch game, my phone bill will go through the roof! They kill us
local folks with calls to Miami. It's about $5-$6 an hour, that means I
will need 2 jobs! <wink>
