I was told that a demo version of DOOM was available on the net. Does anyone
know where I can find a copy of it. I've been looking, but I have had no luck
in locating a copy, shareware or otherwise. Any help sure would be
apprecaited, THANX!

Look in archive.orst.edu in the /pub/geaming/doom subdirectory. Just
download the big file. Make sure it's V1.1!

wuarchive.wuslt.edu, in /mirrors/msdos-games/id. That subdirectory is a mirror
of another site, I think ftp.uml.edu... I've also seen it around on other
sites, but I know that it is at Washington...

It is *really* big (over 2.1 megs), so I don't know if it's possible... FTP
is easy enough, isn't it? Hmm... maybe some people can't ftp...

I uuencoded it on my home computer just to see how big it would be. It
ran to 51 1000 line files for the DOOM1_0.ZIP file. Presumably the 1.2
release will be slightly larger, mabye going up to as high as 60.

I don't think posting it would be very practical. A lot of people's
spoolers would cut them off from parts of it if people didn't download it
right away, and it would need to be posted at least once a week for people
to be able to get it. Probably not worth the effort.

I might be willing to post it all as one gigantic file, but posting 60
separate parts just isn't worth it.
