a while back, you posted about osiris.wad asking if anyone is sitting on
something worthwhile. well in fact i am :). i am a lucky owner of
oracle.wad. it's a huge high quality single map wad for doom2 with tons of
trinity-like movie animations. extremely well done and a very large map
(reminiscent of the old classic doom favorite bnbeyond.wad -- anyone
remember that one?). unfortunately, ive been unable to track it down on any
ftp. it came with the double cd set called Deathmatch: the ultimate game
player's kit. the said set features about 4000 wads for doom and doom2
(mostly for doom2). i'll upload it to cdrom.com when i get a chance. it's a
pretty fat bastard, slightly over 1mb in weight. just the map data is over
500kb. so let me know, one and all!

HeyThere--
I've never heard of either wad, but they sound great-- I'll see if I
can ferrett them out somewhere this afternoon. File search for
"oracle.wad" and "bnbeyond.wad" oughta turn up something. If I come
up with a DL URL I'll post it tonight. If not, I'll let ya know that,
too-- maybe you can let us know when you up it to cd-rom's ftp.
COOL-ness! Thanks... cheerful news like this is always welcome on
these dreary winter days--

well i tracked down oracle.wad ! alternatively, here's the cdrom.com url. this top of the line wad was created by none other than Jim Flynn and Scott Harper. dunno if it's as tough as the latter-day crop (i.e. hr), cause i didn't get to those yet, but... the sheer expanse of this map and immaculate design are rare.
and for the curious here's  bnbeyond.wad . while tex may be not as beautiful or well aligned, but you won't pay attention to it. try it. on uv ( hehe, doom doesn't barf that is). the author, Jason Michelsen, had this to say about his creation : _____________________________________________________________________________
Play Information *
Episode and Level # : E2M1
Single Player : Yeah, but only if your psychotic.

sure, that was back in the day, but this imperfect gem has more of atmosphere and continuity than most of the more later polished maps for doom2
i remember, when couple years ago i finally made it through to the exit without dying (on hug-me-pretty), the demo came up to a bit over 200k...

................................
dunno why i couldn't find them yesterday
guess my ftp search engine had hit the pipe a tad too early :)
