I have recently played Heretic and found it to be one heck of a game.
However, I have discovered the following problem: When proceeding between
levels, I lose my "extra" items, ie say I punch out with 3 tomes, 2 wings, 6
bombs, 2 rings, etc. I wind up with only one of each!!!
Could someone tell me if this is a bug or an intentional nuisance? I would
also appreciate knowing if HEU (as opposed to DEU) is around yet. Any info on
this would be appreciated.

Heretic has a few bugs. Has anyone else had any problems with Heretic
crashing? It's crashed on me several times. Doom has NEVER crashed on me
unless I was running it with other .WAD files. I dunno...ver1.1?

yes it crashed on me too once in like 10 hours. It makes my clock run
fast too. About 5 min on the clock to one hour of game time. Ah well
it's only ver 1.0

Yup, its crashed on me about 3 times already. Twice in the demo when I
just let it run by itself...It just freaks out and spills out a bunch of
jibberish onto the screen and locks up. Hopefully they'll fix this in
the next version. As it is, I think Heretic is a nice spin off from
Doom. I like the fact that you can hold items for later use and though
the monsters aren't that varied, they're tough as a mother!, especially
those @#$@ gargoyles. Heretic would have been better had they had like
four different characters to choose from ex: Wizard, Fighter, Cleric,
Robber. Would have given it an almost Gauntlet type feel, especially in
modem play.

Well, even with the crashing, I think its a great game and if anyone
wants to play IHHD with me, just e-mail me...LaterZ!

When Heretic crashed on me, it goes into the 40 character display mode.

Heretic should've been more like D&D, with experience points for killing
the monsters.

Heretic runs just fine for me, as far as the loss if items i couldn't
say. Since the only version of heretic out to my knowledge is the
demo,(teaser) I wouldn't be too concerned about bugs just yet. AFter
all you do want the whole ball of wax don't you?
If you do have the regeistered version I would like to know if you got
it in a retail sore or if you had to order it. I have ordered games in
the past and ended up paying more. Its not a good feeling when you think
your ahead of the game, pardon the punn, only to find a week later that
if you would have been a little more patient you could have saved a few
bucks.

Haven't had any problems on my system - 486/66 w/32MB RAM and an S3 video
chip, but . . .

"Heretic should've been more like D&D, with experience points for killing

True, however, when you consider the relative simplicity of Doom, and what
Raven has done with the software engine from id, it's pretty impressive.
I'm picking up all sorts of things that I have no idea what to do with!
