I do work for Microsoft, so I guess it's time for an "Official Statement"
Yes. Microsoft and id are working on a port of Doom to Windows. The
only publicly announced date was "before Christmas".
A preliminary version of WinDOOM was shown at the WinG announcement
at the Game Developers Conference.
Some details: The same WinDOOM executable runs under Windows 3.1,
Windows NT, and Chicago. It includes network support (including TCP/IP
and IPX). It uses WinG (the high-speed graphics library). It supports the
same WAD format as the MS-DOS game.
The only requirement is a display which supports at least 256 colors.
(It will "work" on a 16 color display, but talk about ugly!) It supports all
sound and music devices which have Windows drivers.

Gates also true? If so, put me on your mailing list! ;-)
