Yeah, that was funny. Of course, id had those hanging Keens in Doom
2. No doubt there'll be payback somewhere in Quake.
Just started playing DUKE3D again on skill 3 this time and I saw/heard
something incredibly funny. On Level 3 [DEATH ROW] in the "church"
area. If you hit the switch with the monster head which inverts the
cross and causes the room to go red, and then break the stained glass
on the left hand side [as you are facing the podium], you enter a
secret area. Kill that nasty brain thingy and continue down the
corridor. Lo and behold! There's a pile of what appears to be a VERY
dead DOOM Space Marine [as well as a chaingun]. We then here Duke's
voiceover..."Hmmm, that's one DOOMED Space Marine".

3DRealms at id!
If this is old news, sorry. If not, then go check it out. It really
is good for a laugh.
id, it's your turn with Quake. HURRY UP, DAMMIT!
PEACE...

Yes, but since id was the company that made the Keen series (Apogee
merely distributed them), that's a little different. The hanging
Keens were there as a reference to id's *own* earlier game.

when I saw OJ's bronco on the TV in the bar on level 2.

please tell me where to find it. ie what level, where abouts. That would
be great.

Thanks in advance

That would explain the delay, they must be thinking of something witty to
get back Duke Nukem.
Hmm, apogee/id grudge match. next the crucified Duke Nukem in
Quake, then the decapitated Quake character in Apogee's next
game...
Nah, I think it's just friendly ribbing.

You've probably been told but... it's behind the church altar

I never did understand that, since Commander Keen also came from id...

The guys at id Software have a good sense of humour and they make fun
of themselves (self-derision), which IMHO is better than making fun of
others.
The hanging Keens in Doom II are probably there to show that id Software's
Keen days are over and they have moved to better games (Doom, Quake).
The DOOMED Space Marine in Duke 3D is different, because I don't think that
any of the programmers or artists who made Duke 3D were involved in the
development of Doom. Ah well, that's a different kind of humour...

In Death Row, Go into the room with the sign:
"Silence. Discipline. Remorse."
press the button with the satanic head on it, and kill the octabrain
through the cross. Shatter the windows on either side and go through
the left one.

In the church on I think level 3 episode 1, you shoot the stainglass
windows, then press open on the white thing down in front of the
windows, you should hear this wierd noise then the cross moves and the
doors open!
Another cool thing in the room where you hit the switch, go in front of the switch,
turn around, jump over the bench, stop, and look up, there's a hung monk! Kill him,
and you get a healing power up...

It's on the level DEATH ROW (level 3)
Go to the chapel and at the front, where the altar would be found, is a whitish
square with a demons(?) face on it. Activate this and a door will open on you
left and the cross on the wall in front of you will invert. Go through the
corridor. Take the chain gun. Kill things.
