3. Create STAIRS, curving STAIRS, TELEPORTS, WINDOWS, DOORS, POOLS,
PEDESTALS, LIGHTS instantly!
4. All the above tools, including RECTANGLE and POLYGON, are completely
interactive, permitting placement and sizing at will.
5. Map display and graphical thing display are now twice as fast
as DeeP 7.01
6. A more comprehensive check of level than DeeP 7.01
7. "Smarter" drawing tools

DeeP 7.11 has been on Compuserve for at least 2 weeks. but I accidently
uploaded it under the name DEEP711S.ZIP (the name on FTP.CDROM.COM) then I
reuploaded under the name DEEP.ZIP, but they screwed it up anyway.

Yes, they are not too bright, since the name has been DeeP.ZIP for 6 months
there!

The BBS accidently messed up my account, and I was very busy (hey I'm 2years
behind on my taxes) etc.....

DeeP 7.12 fixes all the things I know (DOOR, merge of linedef that's at the
end of this list) and adds much better LineDrawing from any mode and made up a
name called Intelligent Inference Drawing (IID... sounds like...). You
wouldn't believe how long a couple of pages of code took to do this!

Also the merging function was revised so that it guess the right answer better
most of the time. Ohh, and for large maps, the maximum scaling is
automatically restricted so that the graphics routines don't get overflowed
integers. (Causes lines to appear at the scale that's too big, although the
map is not really damaged).

I also spotted some bad linedef names, ( nobody ever complained) and Mike just
fixes stuff and doesn't tell me, so blame him.

Thanks for the feedback from you all (even the - ones), since that's the only
way I can sense what you are looking for.

B.T.W. did anyone notice the automatic prompts telling you the texture is
missing when you bring up the texture box? That was Mike's idea, actually he
told me a while ago, just kept forgetting to do it.

DeeP 7.11S HAS A MAJOR BUG IN IT!!!! When you go into vertex mode & press
ins to go into line/sector mode insertion, you will find a nasty bug...
It works fine until you try to close the sector you are adding... at that
point it flips the linedefs and they all fase the wrong way... And it
screws up the sector refrences because it only flips the linedefs and
not the sidedefs... It gets REALLY annoying having to fix this EVERY
time

Yup, a known problem with DeeP 7.11. I've posted this error several times in
this newsgroup, and already have fixed it. This ONLY happens when creating
linedefs that connect to existing linedefs in a OPEN / NEW sector area. When
drawing lines that are already surrounded by existing linedefs all is ok.

This is the hazard of intelligence, it can also be stupid. I was making the
inside one more aware of when you connect various areas, just forgot to go
over the outside stuff. That was really intended for beginners who might draw
the wrong way, so it correct the drawing automatically.

The fix works almost perfectly in all cases and will be a tremendous
timesaver, which was really the idea. Progress has risks, but at least 99
percent of it works!

The latest version of DeeP is 7.30, which is on FTP.CDROM.COM in the
/pub/idgames/newstuff directory. The file name is DEEP730S.ZIP. The new
version also has intellegent line drawing, which means linedef and vertex
merging should be easier than ever. Download it and let us know what you
think.
