It is a sample PWAD file for E1M1 (I know there is already one for E1M1,
but this isn't to play, it is to look) made with the VERDA v0.20 Doom
editor by Bob Robinson, Robert Fenske, and Mike Carter. I have put in
some switches and an elevator and some other stuff. I have also put
a pit outside that is _real_ deep. Jump into it for fun. Hope you
like it and get the editor, that way we will have tons of new levels
coming out every month.
JUST A NOTE: The editor can't currently read all wall and flor/ceiling
textures that are in the wad. This _will_ change in the next version.
But believe me, there is still plenty there to mess around with. Also,
I am currently working on a 'Guide to Doom Level Editing'. If there
is anyone out there who would like to send me some info they find (such
as: how tall are _you_, what is the minimum space you can fit in, what is
the minimum space each of the monsters can fit in, and other editing tips
or techniques) please feel free. When I am done I will post it as a FAQ on
this news group. Thanks a million.

So where can one get a copy of VERDA? I gophered and FTP'd for VERDA, but no
dice? Where is it? Sounds nice and I'll enjoy playing a new level.

I have one problem with this. Is it legal to distribute modified
WADS with mostly iD work in the them? Granted its available as
shareware, but what happens when I want to redistribute a modified
Episode Two/Three WAD? Any one know what iD's position on these
things is?
If we (the net, etc) step on iD's toes, they may decide not to
support 3rd party stuff in the future. (i.e. no -file parameter,
no simple to decode (well, its not compressed :) data files,
nothing.)
Just food for thought,
Pat
