Heretic deathmatch

After playing Descent for some time I realized it's an excellent game in all
fields, solo play, modem/serial and network deathmatch. I have heard a lot
of mixed feelings about it but my opinion is that it rocks, hard! :)

Now I have been playing Heretic for a while. The solo play feels nice (yeah,
that's it, nice), but somehow it doesn't beat Doom's solo play. Yes, I
know, it's a good thing that u can fly and carry power ups around and use
them when u want to but.. I find Heretic and Doom equal in solo.

Then I tried deathmatch in Heretic and.. I didn't like it all! The biggest
minus is too powerful weapons. If other player found that 'Claw'-thing
(dragon's claw?) and a Tomb of Power, the opponent was history.. If those
powerup books didn't exist, it would be great fun but now it isn't.
And I like fragging my friends with a shotgun or a chaingun, not with a way
too powerful crossbow.

BTW, I loved transforming my opponents to chicken in Heretic :)

Anyone sharing my thoughts?
