I have been reading "LIttle Earthquakes" by Jennifer Weiner this week,
set in Philadelphia.

The Jewish couple are having a tiff because the Jewish grandma Mimi has
always had
always celebrated xmas as a secular holiday with her only son, Andrew

and now wanted to force the tradition on her granddaughter

She calls daughter in law, a slightly more conservative Jew and demands she
brings
a ham to her secular xmas dinner
