Interesting to note, on this page, they now claim only 4 hours before
uploading to CDROM.COM they were contacted by iD.
So which is it? 4 hours? 11 hours? 12 hours? So much for telling it
like it is.
It doesn't matter really, bottom line is, this PROMOTION of
TNT:Evilution, was all for not. (as far as us netters anyway)

Reading between the lines, one now has to wonder why iD would be
releasing this in January. Quake by the end of 95, I think not. They
want to milk DooM a bit more.

And now, the rest of the story

[------------------------]

We know many were waiting for TNT: Evilution to be released as a set
of addon levels for DOOM2. However, as you'll see...

We made TNT way too cool

Four hours before we were going to release it to the 'net, we were
contacted by a company about releasing it commercially and asked to
delay for the rest of the week so they could determine if they wanted
it.

id Software is that company

Current plans are that it will be a complete package including a
modified EXE, and not just another set of levels. We'll provide more
details as they get worked out. The upshot of this is that TNT will
probably be released in stores around the world, by id Software in
January.

We apologize to those who thought (as we did for the 7 months we were
working on it) that it was going to be free for the download. The
whole reason for building addon levels in the first place is to help
extend the longevity of the company and product that have changed all
our lives:

id Software and DOOM

We are happy to have been able to help do that, and are proud that our
product has been deemed "id quality" by the only people truly
authorized to make that distinction.

Well all I gotta say is that its been fun guys but this is my final
post to a id related newsgroup. And I will not be reading them
either. I had a funny feeling that it was Id and GTInteractive who
contacted them, just by the way the team and their liason was reacting
to it and by their posts. I DO NOT plan on buying this especially
since its just new levels, new textures, new opening screen, etc.
It'll be the same old monsters, the same old weapons, the things that
I'm bored of now with Doom and Doom2. In other words nothing new
that'll make me pay more the $5 for it. So TNT, Id software, and
GTInteractive can go to heaven or purgatory(I was going to say hell
but they'd like that too much so fuckem) where its boring.
I had my doubts about Quake and now they've been concerned, we'll
never see Quake until sometime in '96. They have to releaze that TNT
won't sell with Quake on the market, and since they know Quake will be
late they pull this TNT shit. In two months I won't care about TNT or
any ID related product or anything published by GTI.
If they include new monsters or interesting features (which I doubt)
then I might take a second look, but that'll be it. Hundred to one
odds that this will be that Doom 2 The Master Levels thing they were
taking about back when Ultimate Doom got announced. By that time I'll
be spending my money on games that are higher quality and different
than Doom and Quake (like Bullfrog's Dungeon Keeper and
Indestructable) and Daggerfall (wow a story what a concept). Well Id
I know rank you down with Midway.

You were a cool company at first, but you let your EGO (no joke
intended) run away and now you're like all the rest of the big
companies (like EA, Microprose, Sierra, etc)...
