Sadly, I noticed a week or two ago that both of those D2 accounts got
lost in The Great Purge. I probably should, and will, re-create the
"ald-agd" account for old time's sake, but for now, all I have is a
couple of very low-level ladder characters in the "ald" account.

Thinking of which, has anyone else ever run from the first waypoint
(Cold Plains? No, that's the second) to the Inner Cloister without
finding a single waypoint along the way in Normal? That's what
happened to the young Paladin I started that day, couldn't find a
waypoint to save his soul. He surprised me by actually making it into
the Inner Cloister, unfortunately he didn't get to the waypoint before
dying ;-)

He didn't find the Outer Cloister one? That's usually in the same place
every time!

Sorry, it's been *way* too long since I played regularly. Yes, I meant
the Outer Cloister, that's the one he was shooting for since I knew
where it would be ;-)

Ahhh, confusion cleared up. ;)

I recently tried playing D2 under WINE on Linux. It works, but BNet is
laggy as I don't know what. I don't know if that's due to WINE or it
BNet is just like that nowadays!

Nice to know it works under WINE. I suspect the lag comes from WINE; BNet is
no worse than usual these days.

Diablo 2 runs just fine for me when I'm running it with WINE, although I do have
a dual core processor, so that might be part of it.

Um... yeah, the inverse for me, too. I didn't notice mine said HCL
until kin mentioned it his own anomaly. Next reset I may give it
another go, though, but for now it's SCL, as you both already know. :)

I'll try it in single-player at some point to see if there's a
difference. I noticed my ping was fluctuating; maybe it was just a laggy
day or a laggy server?

I do too; dual-core and 64 bit. Shouldn't make any difference I wouldn't
have thought though, given how long ago D2 was coded.
