Unless you are low lvl, then restart a new Amazon with whatever skills you
want.

Jab speed is depending on weapon speed now. I'm playing a Javazon which goes
into meelee with Jab ever so often (It's nice because of the shield that's
possible with Javelins). That got close to impossible after her conversion
to LoD. Luckily enough she had already been through the game and the Cow
Level by then. Today I put her almost through the entire Act V. She wouldn't
have made it without her Hireling, but after the rescue of Anya she got a
nice Maiden Javelin as reward (lucky I guess, it could have been a Maiden
Spear, Maiden Pike or any Amazon only bow I guess. Unless the game always
gives you the weapon type you're currently wielding). The thing has very
fast attack speed, and now she's as powerful as she used to be again, being
able to put her opponents into stun-lock again while jabbing them.
Alternately you could get a weapon with 'fast' or 'very fast' attack speed
and keep going with her.

A fast (really, you need VERY fast or fast with increased attack speed)
weapon will restore the skill.
If you do Act V in normal mode with a zon, Anya almost ALWAYS gives you one
of these new rare javelins. They are almost always fast. I've also found
several very fast pikes. Don't forget now, you can THROW these rare javelins
for a ranged attack. When they reach zero, they are NOT gone. They just need
to be "refilled" (repaired) in town. It's a nice add.

Nope. Got some two-handed piece of junk from her.

Not to be pedantic, but the changes to the barb and the zon were done in
1.08 D2C, which the expansion upgraded you to before putting itself on.

that's just not true. I have a level 89 Bowazon with 12 skill points free.
I have at least two skills maxed (MS+Strafe). I also have 30 stat points
free.
There is a 'phase' in D2 playing where u can become a little too
perfectionist. I built two characters for duelling, a level 84 WW
Lance-Barba (400 VIT) and a level 81 Bowazon (near 400 DEX/Maxed
Guided/Multi). These characters were designed for PvP and where almost
Skill/Stat point perfect in their chosen profession, but now I find them too
ridged. I think I now prefer a more balanced character, you know, a few
points here and a few points there. Also I don't like to be dependent on
items to make a build(i.e Rings of STR/DEX, or a -40% req Weapon).
There are some skills that should be maxed(i.e Fanaticism), while there are
others that just need a few points in (i.e Valk). Go with the flow and make
your own mind up.
There will always be people who try to make u feel u goofed because u spent
some skill points on things u shouldn't have??. I personally would suggest
holding back with your Skill/Stat points, then add some here and there as
you see fit. For instance as a Zon if u feel that u are not hitting
monsters enough (i.e miss) then add some points to dex, Penetrate or your
main attack skill (i.e Strafe).
Use your skills well and play with thought and great style..these are the
makings of a good battlenet player.
