Help !!!

I got the fungal tome on level9. Wiped out all creatures in level9.
Gave the tome to the witch. Got her the black mushroom. She told me to
get the brain of a demon. But there are no demons left in level9. So I
went to level10. But I get killed all the time within 5 seconds by
poison spitters (the big fat red demons are not a problem though).

I think I will get a potion of resist poison if I give Pepin the
demon's brain.

Where and how do I get the demons' brain?

Once you kill a demon, look around and you should be able to find a
brain. It makes a nice squishy sound when you handle it! Anyway,
take it back and I was given an elixir which increased all my
attributes by about 3.

Shooting any demon (with brains) should give you a brain for the healer.
Use firewall-spell against spitting dogs - usually quite effective.

Did you find the secret pressure chamber yet? It is located in level 9,
but you have to get there with 'relentless pursuit.' (I can't give it
away too easily)

Since they're COMPLETELY RANDOM levels, you won't be giving anything
away... What did you do to find a secret room? I've wondered if there
were any, but I've never seen them (except to the main 'areas' like the
Halls of the Blind, Chamber of Bone, etc...) And they just open up once
you read the book associated with the chamber...

Should be the next demon killed will give up its brain. The brain is
small, so look hard around the area where you kill the next monster.
Also, the 'Spectral Elixir' give you a permanent +3 to all attributes.

I also got the demon brain from the first monster I killed on level 10.
I have two friends who had the same problem finding Demon brain.
They thought it was a possible bug until I finished the quest. We
agreed that it was probably an easy thing to miss when in a fray.

Can you finish the game even if you don't have the demon brain or is it a
requirement for finishing? I ask because I am currently up to level 14 and
have not found a brain yet. I even went back over all of level 10 and I
couldn't find it. Is it that small?

It's smaller than a pile of coins but larger than a potion. One friend was
able to finish the game without completing this quest. Could be hard to
find. Could be a bug. Dunno.

SPOILER!

I've had the mushroom and brain quest twice so far. In both quests, the brain
immediately popped out of the first demon I killed after Adria told me to look for it
(one of the demons didn't even have "demon" in his name; I think it was a Lava
Lord).

It is easy to miss the brain, though: it's only about the size of a potion.

You don't need a brain to finish the game. But if you finish that quest, you'll end
up with an elixir that will increase all of your stats by 3.

Hi Chrys. Sorry to intrude in your letter but I have a question: After the
Leoric quest, How do I get any other quests, and what are they in order (if
possible) starting after Leoric??

Thanks!

Hmmmmm...

After throwing away the one and only blood stone I got, I retraced
my steps back up to level 6 (on the way to 5) and found the chamber of bone
(I missed the 1st time around). In the Chamber of bone I killed something
(can't remember what) and got the brain. Not everything is on the same
level for different games.

As far as I know, you get a demon愀 brain from the very first monster you
kill after you got that quest from adria. I haven愒 had that quest in the
game, perhaps the next time I play it. Hope that helps.

Everything in the Catacombs should be succeptible to either firebolt
or lightning. The gargoyles and electric bats are both immune to
lightning, use firebolt on them. Firebolt works against the flying
demons also. In fact, the only thing I can think of offhand that
firebolt doesn't work on in the cats are the lava men you may see on
the lowest level -- use lightning on them, or better yet have a
fighter with you who can tackle them. You may occasionally miss,
depending on what direction they're walking in, and it often takes a
few hits to kill them. Just bring lots of mana potions and go nuts :)

Gargoyles heal whenever they return to their stone state. Try not to let
them heal by hitting at them relentlessly.

Electrical bats are as you might have guessed immune to lightning...use
firebolt on them.

Flying demons (if red in color) are immune to fire....use lightning on
them.

If your spells don't work, get a good sword, and use the
"behind-the-blocked-door" technique wherein you stand in front of a
doorway so that only one monster can hit you at a time and hack away. This
way you don't worry to much about being overwhelmed by 8-9 monsters around
you....

hope this helps

I find Flying Demons are succeptable <sp?> to both fire and lightning.
With a Level 27 Sorc, this doesn't seem to be a problem...

>Larger/Electrical bats

The 'Familiar's shock you themselves, so that should hint that they are
immune to lightning attacks. Use Fire Bolt against these.

>Demons, especially flying......

Horned Demons don't like either Lightning or FireBolt. I find I can often
take them down with one FireBolt.

>I have Fire Boilt/Holy Bolt/Lightning <Level 4 only> and cannot seem

Holy Bolt are only good against the 'undead', especially skeletons.
'Horror' skeletons are immune to lightning, and 'Flaming' skeletons are
immune to fire, etc.

Maybe you just need a higher spell level?

Are these blinks? I think several people are confusing these for bigger
monsters from deeper down (actually called gargoyles), but I wouldn't
expect to see real gargoyles (that turn to stone and back) on L5 catacombs.

>Larger/Electrical bats

These are Familiars and are immune to lightning.

>Demons, especially flying......

I'm not sure what creature you are referring to here.

>I have Fire Boilt/Holy Bolt/Lightning <Level 4 only> and cannot seem
>to be able to affect them ???

Just about everything I've run into in the catacombs falls by fire. The
two exceptions are burning dead, but your holy bolt will chew through them and
a few Fire Goat Clan (which usually fall well to lightning).

The Familiars (orangish colored) are lightning immune, but susceptible to
fire bolts.

>Can someone HELP ME ???
>
>What can I do ???

I suspect that part of your problem is that your Magic is way too low. I've
been playing a Sorceror (he's now level 15) who has his magic up to 108 (and
has ~250 mana points). He's been this strong since about level 11 (I've
been working on strength & dex). Note that Firebolt damage is primarily
controlled by your magic level, so having a low magic (from your mana,
somewhere around 60 I'd guess), is costing you damage. For me, all the
little flying creatures except for the Boss (glows bright red and is usually
next to the blood stone quest) go down in one firebolt hit (it usually takes
me two shots to actually hit unless they are close). I would guess it will
take you two firebolt hits per creature. I've also found that firewall
works well on large packs.

See if you can find some magic items to boost your magic ability. Note that
most of the little flying creatures have few hp for the level (I don't
remember what the numbers are off the top of my head, but 15-25 would be
my guess)...

If you have more specific question (or the actual names of the creatures), I
might be able to give you more exact advice. Also, are you playing single
or multi-player?
