I know you can't imbue socketed, magic, rare, set or unique items, and I assume
you can't imbue crafted items either (not that there would be much point) ...

... but can you imbue ethereal items? If so, do they stay ethereal or is it a
total re-roll of the base item?

I know that if you imbue a superior item it often loses the superior attribute
(enhanced defence or durability or whatever) - so I guess the same goes for
ethereal. I'm reluctant to waste an imbue trying it though - has anybody else
tried it?

Having only used one imbue since LOD came out I wouldn't exactly call
this test a waste. I would call it another pointless excercise as is
almost every imbue in LOD.
