Is Elemental worth it?

I'm still deciding if elemental is worth the extra cost. It cost 20 more
mana than fireball, and that is a lot for me right now. I have a level
16 elemental after a lot of hard work and scrounging for money, but I'm
still not sure. Elemental doesn't seem to do as much splash damage as
Fireball, but it homes in on enemies. Also, sometimes my elemental runs
past a monster without exploding, kills it, and runs to another monster
to explode. Is it supposed to do that?

Elemental is a really good spell. Powerful too. If you have a level 16, I
would use that for the critters that need to have a fire spell cast upon
them. Fireball is also a very good spell. <Flips coin> The reason the
Elemental guy may run from one monster to another without killing the first
may be due to resistances of said monster. If monster one was immune or
resistant to fire, Elemental may pass him up for a more inviting target. Of
course I could be completely wrong. You will ultimately have to find which
one you like better. Myself, I like the homing aspect of Elemental. I hate
to cast fireballs and miss.

when i was playing around with the hacks/trainers i gave my mage a level
15 elemental and about 900 mana, i loved the way it could cause utter
chaos!! i wish i had it for my warrior.

Yeah, but my elemental killed one monster, then ran then exploded on
another.

I don't like elemental. It does not have the splash effect of a fireball
and it seems to me that it does not do the damage stated.

If this is a sorcerer, I would look for the following.

Armor that would give + to magic. You don't need hit points.
Same for shield.
Same for Jewelry. Dragon's of Wizardry would be the best. But, you still
have to keep your strength up to wear that plate.

I find Elemental helpful when finding out what's around a corner.
Fireball causes more direct damage, but it won't home around
a corner. I tend to use fireball if the monsters are in line of sight
and Elemental when I'm trying to tickle some out. Also, Elemental
is more player friendly. So, under the right circumstances, I prefer
to use Elemental.

A high level (15+) elemental is pretty awesome. It will do just as you
described...kill one monster that is low in hp, then travel to the next
and explode. If you sort of generally target a group of witches or drakes
and let fly 20 or so, the entire group goes down in seconds since all
the elementals just bounce and kill, bounce and kill! Looks cool, too :)

The problem is, I never keep it hot-keyed, so I hardly ever use it.
