Am I correct that open battle.net games are non-persistant?

I tried going there to play one of my SP characters, creating a private
password protected game. Played the game for at least 15 minutes, then
exited and tried to join the game with another character. I got an
error "Invalid Game Name".

Also I found D2Loader by a simple Google search "D2Loader". I've
downloaded it, but not installed it yet. I'm trying to be careful and
not do anything to screw up my game or get me kicked off battle.net

I did try using that D2gfx.dll that is supposed to allow you to run 2
instances on the same computer in SP. Didn't work. Couldn't even start
D2. All I got was an error that D2gfx.dll appeared to be corrupt &
couldn't find game.exe.

I had renamed D2gfx.dll to D2gfx.bak, so I deleted the replacement DLL
and renamed the original back.

I'm still looking for some way to swap materials between my SP
characters.

It's too damn bad they don't have anything like the "cornerstone of the
world" that was included with Hellfire.

Or is something like that available in one of the Mods?

Yes, those are pretty much the same as TCP/IP games.

Shadowmaster works OK. It doesn't recognize most of the really funky
mods but still seems to save and restore items without any problems.

You can also just create a TCP/IP game over LAN if you have another
computer handy. This is what I do when transferring the very valuable
items around.

Well, if I ever get the other computer working ...

Windoze didn't like something on either my MB, CPU or Memory (swapped or
eliminated everything else).

Have to buy a second copy of everything though.

Yeah, the game doesn't stick for me neither.

Replacing D2gfx.dll works well for me. Maybe you downloaded a corrupted
file.

Since you created the game, your computer is the server. The game will
stay as long as your charecter is in the game. If somebody else creates a
game and you are in it, when they leave you will be kicked out with a "The
Games Host has left" type of message.
It is not like D1 where each player could hold the game. What you did
only works on closed realms.

You need to mule weither on a LAN, have a freind create and hold a game
for you or (cough, cough), try a t, r, a, i, n, e, r.
