Is anyone running this combination successfully? My performance is
horrible compared to my old slower machine. Any performance
suggestions?

From what i hear the K7 Athlon has combatability issues with the geforce
2 video card. You need the latest video card drivers to try and solve
this. www.amd.com might have more information, or look at your video card
manufacturers webstite.
The problem with Win2k is that it does not give good support all the new
drivers/video cards etc.

True, but the newest video cards usually supports Win2k out of the box. I
use a Win2k with a Voodoo3 and I can only dream of the support NVIDIA owners
get. Maybe it will help if he gets the newest Detonator drivers?

Same problem here, tho different hardware - Abit ZM6, Celeron 400, Hercules
GeForce 2, win2k Pro.
Either Abit problem or GeForce 2 problem, or combo of these with win2k...
Ended up fixing the problem by going back to win98se... ;)

I've got Win2K, Asus A7V, TNT2. No problems now, but there are a buttload of
driver updates you need first. Plus you'll need more RAM using Win2K

Start with:
Via 4in1 1.25a
nVidia 6.34 for Win2K
Win2K SP1
Win2K agp registry hack

That's pretty crazy- I run D2 on my Laptop, a Celeron433 with 64 megs
of RAM and an 8 meg ATI Rage Mobility chipset in Win2kPro and it runs
fine except for being choppy when loading up right at first, and
occaisionally when I enter a new area. The hard drive chunks away a
bit causing the slowdown.

Is your slowdown just the game slowing down, or is there a lot of hard
drive access going on when everything gets slow? How much RAM do you
have and what are your swap file settings? These can be pretty
important to system performance.

I have the following system and it runs fine...

WIN2K
128MB
K6 400Mhz
10GB HD
8MB ATI
Voodoo2
56KB modem

Copy of the sound file on HD

Increased swap to 300MB

And so far its been ok.

I have exactly the same setup with Athlon 800. I don't have any
problem running D2. It's a lot faster than my old K63-400. Maybe
adding memory will help. I have 256MB.

I do have some occasional "server error/error uncompressing spirit"
crashes only when playing with my bowazon. Other chars are ok.
I don't know why.

I am using a KT7 with a geforce SDR, and a duron @ 850

Diablo II runs flawlessly. Make sure you are using the latest nVidia
detonator drivers ( www.reactorcritical.com )

Make sure D3d is enabled in dxdiag.exe

make sure you are using the latest VIA 4 in 1 drivers ( www.via.com.tw )

The problem is the Direct 3D modus in Geforce Driver's, it looks like that
Detonator 6.2x o > are good.

I have an Athlon 700 classic, ASUS K7V and ASUS Geforce 6800 Deluxe DDR.

Charlie.
