Nothing. I have a level 42 sorcerer and have yet to find a KSOH, let
alone a King's Bastard Sword of Haste. Just keep looking.

it took me five months to get a KSOV (bastard of course) V= vampire, which
actualy works great for my warr as he has little need to go to town for red
and it lets him teleport around at a greatly reduced cost.

I've found all forms of Kings Bastard Swords yet, except the KSOH, luckily
I've found two KSOS(peed) and they perform just as well, one was bought at
Gris, the other found on lvl 16.

Just cross your fingers and hope you get lucky one day. Adria sometimes has a
Kings War Staff of Haste to toy around with, so you might want to check her
out too

Hi Patricia, Welcome to the group, the Muffins are on the way!

Your statement here is incorrect. A KSOH can still be obtained
legitimately in ver 1.07. As for the GPOW, it was never legitimate in
any version of Diablo.

Hmm...anyway it will be a long time before I find it (if I do find it ever),
I think.
I'm a level 32 warrior playing mostly in hell/church now, some visits in
hell/cats, and just tried normal/hell just for fun. I hate hate hate the
succubi, so I do not care about going further down than caves for now.

Btw, my current sword is a Soldier's sword of the Heavens (Bastard, to hit:
17%, 75% damage, +13 to all) and I happen to enjoy it very much. My ac is
173, and I do 58-74 damage.
Is this low or high for a warrior of my class. Any advice on where I should
be going to find any better stuff ?

The rest of my shit is as follows:
Head: Jade Great Helm - ac: 11, resist all 26%.
Neck: Crimson amulet of the eagle - Resist fire 26%, hit points 30.
Body: Blessed Plate - ac: 62, +96% armor
Left hand: Glorious shield of the moon - ac: 14, +76% armor, +7 to all
attributes
Left ring: Ring of power - + 14 str
Right ring : Silver ring of the moon - +20% to hit, +5 to all attributes

I also carry a helm of brilliance (+11 mag) and a mail of sorcery (+19 mag)
for bookreading, along with a ring that gives +8 and an amulet giving +9
magic.

Does anyone have any tips on what I should try to improve ? Or any other
tips ?
I play solo mp Diablo, btw.

best regards,
Renč

Well, if you have your resistances at a decent level (you might also want to
list all your stats) the succubi in hell shouldn't bother you too much. I
don't usually play a warrior, but my neighbor does, so I may be able to help
some(the resident talking gol...er...warriors should be along soon to give
better insight) . A good way to deal with witches are to activate a few,
run around a corner, stop right by the corner, and when one show's her face,
start swinging. A warrior should be able to swing a sword quickly enough to
stunlock them(or at least keep them from getting a way). Also, it isn't too
hard to corner a couple of them and take them out, esp. on normal/hell. The
damage you're doing doesn't seem too low, but I think it could be higher,
try doing some hell runs(if you can) to find some better items.

A good idea to help you is try playing with a group(or at least one other
person, a mage or rogue, there should be someone in the group that would be
willing to go through normal hell with you and help you out(I would, but I
can't always get online at a certain time to play, and I'm a mage and
sometimes tend to be a loose cannon, which is why I usually play with
friends, and carry plenty scrolls of res and potions of full rejuv).

From what I see(if I didn't overlook anything) your magic resistance is
only 26%. You need to get that higher to be able to better withstand the
witches(and pretty much anything else that uses any form of magic). If you
can get your resistances almost maxed, you'll almost be able to shrug off a
witches attack in normal hell. You want to try to find an amulet that gives
resist all, and not resist fire.

Are you sure about this? My rogue was offered by Wirt a King's Broadsword of
Haste (112k) when she was level 24. I had Diablo 1.07.

well, my warrior bought a kings sword of the heavens at wirtmart ;)
it's only 2-10 damage though :(

your sword is unhealthy for your wallet ;p and the AC may be a bit low..
also.. I usually wipe out witches with spells (fireball/lightning) or
leave them for the rogues and mages to pick on.

I pay by-the-minute for my internet connection, so I am not to be found on
battle.net (I think I will be soon, just have to transfer my character onto
this computer. Copy the dlinfo_0.drv to c:\windows and change the name of
the 'puter was it?). But if someone legit wants a game, e-mail me, and I'm
in..!
I started this warrior sitting in a LAN with two of my friends, but all of
us were going as warriors, so I don't get much help there. And, as we were
all starting new chars, there was a big fight about books and items...I
didn't see the fun in it.

Correct, although I got an Obsidian crown of precision today, ac: 8, resist
all: 34% and +16 dex.

My resistances are now: 34% all except fire which is at 60%.

The reason why I'm wearing the Crimson amulet is that I haven't found
anything better yet, and more fire resistance is better than nothing. (I had
an amulet before which gave me +29 hit points, this one gives me +30 hp plus
the +26% fire resistance).

Very thankful for your help!

While you can find better stuff in the caves, particularly resistance stuff
you are more likely to find it in Hell. Not every game will have witches and
mages on 13-15. Quite a reasonable number will have knights and snakes which
you should prefer to take on. And the rest will have mixed attackers like
the balrogs etc.
The sword is nice but really for a warrior the heavens suffix is better on
jewellery or armour, leaving your weapon for speed, life/mana stealing,
armour/damage suffixes. Still hold onto it for the moment.

The only thing I can see missing is anything to enable faster hit recovery
(harmony etc) which you will need in Hell as a warrior since you are going
to get hit. The crown you just got will help with the resistance part of
things. Eventually you want to be able to max resistance in all categories,
maybe not simultaneously at first- but still have them all at least 50%.
This way you are making far fewer trips to town as your reds last longer.
Finally, by 32 Hell shouldn't be too difficult so keep trying games there
and develop that telekilling skill.

I noticed on my first battle.net trip last night. Met nothing but knights
and snakes, and got my three dots. With great helm of a mage, of course.
Could never have done it alone. Anyway, I didn't find anything special, and
I'm kind of too scared to go down alone, especially at the higher
difficulties. Is it possible to find good things in normal/hell, or do I
have to go nightmare ?

I have a sword of the vampires in my inventory, if I need some mana. But it
only has 4-12 damage, though.

Telekilling as in teleport onto a monster and hit it ? I don't have the
teleport spell, I haven't seen any books yet and I don't have any
scrolls...am I in trouble ?

Btw, I just got my character up to clvl 33...6 million experience points

Just about everything should be findable in normal, But for good bonuses on
good items higher levels of difficulty make them easier to find.

No, you're not in trouble. However, if you are going to keep advancing your
warrior you need a good tactic to deal with spellcasters in H/H. telekilling
means you don't have to run after each one, which means faster killing.
Alternatively you can develop some zigzagging tactics which work fine
against small numbers but against packs leave you vulnerable.
It's probably about time some monsters started dropping some teleport books
for you as at level 33 you seem overdue.

Nothing. It takes a while to get one of those beauties. If you've already
had a King's Scimitar of Haste (Wirtling item I'm assuming?) then either you
have been very lucky, or else you went through shopping hell to get one. If
you shop Gris around 500 games in a row (it may take more than that though),
you've got a decent chance of getting one.

For items and experience, nightmare hell is the place for you, but
your equipment is not quite up to scratch. An item of Harmony would
probably help you a lot.

>I hate hate hate the
>succubi, so I do not care about going further down than caves for now.

Spice girls are my favorite. Remember, lawyers and spice girls are
very tedious to kill with warrior tactics, but duck soup for rogues
and sorcerors. You can't cast spells like a sorc, but you _can_ get a
good bow and make like a rogue. I've used a number of different bows
as a warrior, and always keep one in inventory specifically for
lawyers and spice girls. The Swiftness suffix is great if you can
find one, but any good plus-damage and especially plus to-hit bow will
help.

>Btw, my current sword is a Soldier's

You'd like a higher prefix in this class. Even if you can't find a
King's, a Knight's or Champion's is good. The speed class of suffix
is also very desirable.

> Any advice on where I should
>be going to find any better stuff ?

Nightmare hell. You can get just as good stuff in normal hell, but
you will get almost no experience. If spice girls show up, start a
new game.

>Does anyone have any tips on what I should try to improve ?

Do some Laz runs in Normal to improve almost all your stuff,
especially your jewelry. Try to get an item of Harmony. One way to
make this interesting is to give yourself quests: start a new game and
go to Griz. If he doesn't offer you anything good, start another
game. When he offers you something sweet, go down and earn the money
to buy it (be sure you don't level up meanwhile and push it off his
menu!). That way you get something good, and also the chance of good
drops as a bonus.

I don't really think so, because I now have gotten my character's ac up to
236, and this helps a lot. In Nightmare/hell I almost never got hit
yesterday (although I was surrounded by black knights).

I don't know, I don't like bows. I am indeed a warrior.

Last night, I went shopping, and after starting like 20 new games, I finally
saw something interesting. King's Sword of Blood. I was pretty much way up
there for a little while, until I discovered the base damage which was 6-16.
I hate that. :

This is where I go now... I like it down there. As long as there are no
succubi, that is.

Every game when I quit playing, I take all of the gold I can pack into my
backpack, and quit. This way, if Griz has something good to offer, I can
take it. :)
I hate to leave things like gold behind, so I take all I can get. (And I
have this friend who wants to sell some of his good shit, don't know why he
wants money)

I also got me another Amulet yesterday, giving +14% resist all, so I'm up at
48%. I will be looking for better rings, of course.

Thanks again for your help

A note here on item collecting:

I play a lot of co-op MP and one thing I find surprising to me is that
people leave blue items all over the floor of the dungeons. If you
REALLY want the good stuff, bring up EVERY decent item, sell it and
leave the gold in town. Once you make lvl 16, trap fatso in the maze,
clear out the lvl and go back to town. You can now use the money to buy
up the cheaper item that Gris has, and thereby force him to repopulate
that slot. Almost all of my better armors have been gleaned this way.
Another trick, with a still devoloping mage is to go to Adria, see if
she has a book, go back down to 16, come right back up, and visit her
again. If you have the patience, you can spend ALL of this gold on books
and get your spells up VERY fast. You can also pump Wirt this way, but
he will not restock until you go down and back up again.

Hey there!
King's/Haste, along with King's/Vampire, are probably
the hardest swords to find. I've found a few different
King's/Haste sword's, Broad sword the best of the lot.
This comes from not owning my own PC, so I have different
high level characters on 'borrowed' computers.
My highest (46th) level Warrior in Diablo uses a
Strange{110%} Broad Sword of Haste, as he's never found
the KSOH.

You should try some Mods. Get Abysmal Diablo, and then
you'll find some amazing items.

Often referred to as 'cycling' gris. wonderful topic when you have
more gold in town than anyone can carry!

My young mages would just run over to cat's entrance (right up screen
from Adria) pop down, pop back up and run back down to Adria.
Doesn't matter where you go - just as long as you leave town.

Grrrr.... Don't remind me on the King's Sword of Vamps... Gris was offering
me a perfect bastard about a year ago (in His last Item Slot, so Immediate
Lvl Didn't Matter, besides, I had leveled up only 3 games Prior)(lvl37 Mage)
so I headed to Caves/Hell to Gather up some Moolah... Got my Cash, Cast a

Ouch.

Gotta love my KSoV that my lvl 38 warrior has. When doing item runs
through NM/Hell he's a telekilling vision of death warpped up in a tin
can!
Pop! Whack whack whack. Pop! Whack whack. Grr... Kill kill
kill!!!! Kill the barrels!
Oops, 'scuse me, got carried away....

Of course that same sword isn't nearly as useful in hell/hell where
the haste suffix is much for necessary (for me at any rate).

You could also just save the game before you talk to him, buy whatever he
has and reload the game... He will then have something new. I know this
works in Hellfire since I pumped some nice stuff out of him (Godly Plate,
Champions Blade of Haste) He also offered me a Kings Sword Of Haste, but i
discovered it was a small sword.... DAMN.

No reason at all other than the fact that once you can clear lvl 16, you
will have more $$$ to do this with, but any lvl will work just as well
:)

True for SP... but for SP, there is also the Wort trick. Go stand in
front of Wirt and save the game...
Choose "new game" and then "Reload game" and try him again... works
great in D and HF SP...

Yeah, don't rub it in. My Diablo warrior only has a non-suffixed
King's sword. And my sword and shield rogue doesn't have a King's
sword at all :-(

A telekilling vision of death? Whoa, I can just imagine the Grim

Wirt's coffee each morning to make him dust off some of that old Godly
armour he keeps locked up for impressing Gillian when she stops by?

I can do a slow motion version of this with a Master's SOV, but the to hit
factor does present problems every now and then. Must work on the jewellery
to compensate when he gets dusted off again.

Yes. My warrior had a Masters of Vamp for a *long* time. All through
his late 20s and early 30s he was a mana-shield wearing golem. :-)

Don't forget that the last 2 slots have a better chance of higher level
prefixes and suffixes. (I don't recall the numbers on that, but it was
slightly better)
