The Hellforge is a table where you must place Mephisto's soulstone and
then shatter it. You can't do it right away once you get there. You
must first fight...

anyway keep trekking upward in this vast lava map. For me it was a bit
off to the right before the waypoint.

The Hellforge is in the River of Flame/Fire (in Act 4). There is only one
"level" and you just need to search around all of the areas. It took me a
little bit of time to find it, but there is no mistaking it once you see it
and highlight it with the mouse. There were stairs vertically and
horizontally leading to the Hellforge, although only a very small set. You
will need to identify the Hammer you get after killing the creature guarding
the Forge before you can use it to destroy the soulstone. After this, you
get to go past that angel-like dude (can't remember his name offhand) and
work your way towards Diablo. That's all I can say because I don't want to
ruin it for you or anyone else.

No spoilers here either, but I finished Diablo 2 tonight, single-player
version using the Barbarian on NORMAL difficulty. Excellent game, good movie
at the end. It sure answers some questions for me. I will now be taking a
Hiatus from the game for a little bit now because I've been playing it a lot
for the last two weeks and will try a different character next time I play,
or I may try Battle Net for the first time in my life once I'm sure more of
the problems people have reported are fixed.

Ah the armorer...i've done River of Flame/Diablo runs about 6 times and he
ALWAYS kills me once..(lvl 29 paladin)

I must be blind. I'm in Act IV on the hell forge quest, but can't find the river
of fire. Where is it?
