So do most of the cool Items only show up in Multiplayer mode?

Yes, you do. When I my Rogue was only level 17 or so she found a Kings
Sword of Sorcery (one handed Bastard Sword). Unfortunately, now at level
32, that is still the best she has ever found - still using the somewhat
crummy bow I bought when she was level 17 or so, and the best bow she has
had was found in the caves when she was only about level 13 or so -
unfortunately it was lost when i forgot to repair it.

I've got a level 31 rogue with some cool stuff on single:

Windforce-found

Wierd Bow of Thunder 1-10 + 1-20 Litng + 96 to hit dur 50-found

Merciless Bow of Heavens 1-10 +151 dam +15 to all dur 50- Wirt

Saintly Full Plate of Sorcery base 68 +113 to armor +20 to magic
dur 90-found

Obsidian Amulet of Wizardry resist all +40 +22 magic-Gris

Cobalt Ring of Zodiac resist litng +44 +18 to all-found

Ring of Titans +30 to strength-Gris, to wear armor

Dragons Ring of Wizardry +57 to mana +26 to magic-Gris

Veil of Steel- Man I wish this was in multiplay!!!

Demonspike Coat, sold it when I found the Saintly Plate

As you can see, I go heavy for the magic boost, my spell levels are
relatively high for a rogue. I've seen several Kings Swords and Axes,
some Holy Shields, and suchlike stuff of no interest to a rogue.

I'm still looking for better armor, Awesome Plate of Perfection maybe.
Also a M.B.O.H. 1-14 version, and maybe a prefixed Ring of Titans.

It appears that what you find changes little with the difficulty level
you are at, but what gris, the witch, and Wirt sell DOES change quite a bit
with the difficulty level.
I finally found a decent helm for my Rogue (lv 31) by starting numerous
games in hell difficulty and shopping at Gris's - he never offered anything
as good in Norm or Nightmare levels.

Not that much. One of my Rogue team mates bought me one for about
120k. It is on the low end with damage of 7-15, +80% +168% but it was
still better than the Kings Blade of Heavens I was using. I have also
bought a Kings Sword of Blood from Gris. It also cost about 120k.
Currenlty, I am wishing for the Kings Sword of Vampire. I have
determined for my style of play, that this is the sword to have.

It might be just as effiective to make repeated shopping trips to Gris
and Wirt. Wirt has a better selection of special items, particularily
Bows and Armor.

I bought a King Sword of Haste (bastard) from Gris a few days agao too. It
was around 107,000. I have noticed several times that when someone has
announced a great find in this newsgroup, I have found the same thing
around the same time. I remember some people talking about zodiac rings. I
soon found my first. This was about a month ago. Has anyone else noticed
this phenomena? I wonder if it has something to do with the date stamp? I
also seem to find things in bursts. I found two Royal Circlets a few weeks
ago. I had found one several months earlier. Then I found two Demonspike's///

All I can say is, it's damned hard to get a KSOH. I've been playing since
Jan 3. and have a level 40 sorc, level 38 warrior, and level 35 rogue and
have yet to see a legit KSOH bastard version. I have a 2-hander KSO
vampires, which is about the best Gris has offered my warrior.

I finally found a KSOH 6-15 at Griswold at level 43 (with my sorceror). I
bought it with a hoot and holler for 94,000. It's the first one I've been
offered in 5 months of playing, with frequent start/restart shopping.

OK- so Griswold is still sold out of KSOH (bastard, long sword I don't
care). Maybe its time everybody who has a KSOH but isn't using it
(retired character or such) started selling them back to Gris so the rest
of us will have a chance.

So far the best I have personally seen Gris offer:
Kings Sword of Stars long sword (Bought it, used it, sold it back)
Kings Sword of Slaughter bastard (bought it used it, sold it back)
Champions Sword of Heavens bastard, +15 (keep it as my reserve)
Masters Sword of Haste bastard (my main blade)

I have found a Kings club of Haste, but that's as close as I have come to
the fabled KSOH.

My closest was a King's Sword of Speed from Griswold. It's a bastard
version. Found it around level 30-31. I can't tell the difference
between it and haste.

My level 22 Rogue picked up a Lord's Sword of the Vampire from
Griwald. Useful thing. I could go hacking around and barely lose
anything from my health. Unfortunately, I got cocky, took it down to
the Caves/Nightmare, got killed and it was gone when I got back down
to look for it. <sigh> Never found another.

A friend of mine and I got some great items on the same day and
approximately the same time of day. He thinks that seeding of the maze
generator is based on time and date. I suppose, if you really want to
explore this, you can take down the time and date of a particularly
good game, then set your system clock to that later and see if it's
just as good. For academic purposes of course.

1. Jewelry from Griswold? I know he doesn't have it in multi....
2. Single-player character level 31?? i thought you only went through the
game
one time in single player, putting your char at 17 or 18???

No - I mean that you start as a character level 1. This is
single-player mode he was asking about.

Wrong again . If you select "new game",when loading up an experienced
Charcter, you will start with labyrinth level one, at the character level
you last saved that character at, complete with all items and gold they
had in their posession at the time you saved. And I AM talking about
single-player games. Check the readme file.
