Looking for unique items. (wish list)
I Am I
have found them. So if you could post here what levels you have found and
what mode the game was in when you found them that would be great.
1. Schaefer's Hammer (is their armor, ring, crown, etc... that does fire
damage that I can use with this.) DO NOT SAY "Lightforge" {Is this a hack
thing because I can find nothing that supports it actually being in the
game}
2. Dreamflange
3. Veil of Steel
4. Overlord's Helm (to complete my all oriental equiped character)
5. The Mangler
6. Naj's Light Plate
7. The Needler
8. The Grizzly
9. Griswold's Edge (I really want this one to replace The Grandfather)
10. Sparking Mail (this to go with Griswold's Edge so I can do both fire and
lightning damage.)
(No I do not want them as gift, I want the thrill of the hunt and the agony
of defeat pumping through my veins.)
And any hints people may have in hunting unques would be appreciated.

I can answer only a couple in here, but will do what I can. The Veil is an
SP only item, you have to get it from Lachdanan, a quest that you get
roughly 50% of the time in SP (either Lachdanan or The Warlord of Blood).

I found this one somewhere in the cats, in an SP nightmare Hellfire game.

This one I've found several times, from Church to at least the Caves, in
Normal and Nightmare. My youngest son also found it in a SP Diablo game.

Another SP quest item. You get this one from Gris when you complete the
Anvil of Fury quest.

inventory along with my Emerald Mace and Thinking Cap (these 3 together
unite to give me max res on everything and +3 spell lvls!) . Other than
that, I continue to use my King's (Bastard) Sword of the Stars, Awesome
Full Plate, and Royal Circlet.

Saw this in hell levels, Normal dif. Sincerity found it & showed it to me.

Hell/Normal again. A Unique dropped it, in my case.

As ald said, SP game only - get it from Lachdanan (quest) after you help him
out. He's in the hell levels.

I got this after I complete the Anvil of Fury quest. I think that's the
only way you get it. I found the Anvil of Fury down in the caves. Died a
couple of times trying to get it, too. :-)

that lists all the Unique items in Diablo, and Lightforge isn't listed.
Naturally, these books aren't always correct. Which is why I'm asking...
how do you get Lightforge? Is it a quest?

I recently received Diablo for a gift. I've played the Barbarian and
the Rogue one time each to the end (currently working on the Wizard).
Anyway, in *both* campaigns I've completed I've found this. I can't
remember specifically where, but it was relatively early in the games
(dungeon levels 3-6). I do know that I got this after killing one of
the "boss" monsters on that particular level.
My barbarian sold it outright. I used it a little with the Rogue and
didn't think it was all that great - and was absolutely nothing compared
to the Bow of the Stars that I found later on.

I got this with my barbarian as part of a quest that Griswold sent me
on. Again, I pretty much ditched this after I used it a few times. The
major problem was that when you successfully hit something with it the
creature would recoil a few spaces backwards, which was darn near
useless when I was trying to fight a monster that used ranged attack
(lightning, magic, etc.).
Ditched this after I found the Golden Sword of Maiming, which absolutely
cut through Diablo like a knife through butter.

I haven't seen this one very often, but when I have its always been a drop from
one of the creatures in Hell.

I've only seen it in Hell, best bet is Laz or one of h's witches (including
Bloodlust).

I've seen this fairly often in Hellfire, very rarely in Diablo (seems to turn
up in same places as Stone Cleaver, but right now I cannot recall where I've
found it besides in hell...)

Laz's Wicthes, Sir Gorash, Advocates and Blood Knights on 16.

The church, the caves, Hell. Whenever I find this annoying thing, I always
think its going to be Windforce or Eaglehorn...

Occasionally in hell, usually in catecombs (hell mode) or caves (nightmare
mode) (difficulty affects where chain mail will be found, as opposed to
leather armor or plate mail)

It is a nice feeling when you finally find one of those really elusive uniques.

thought I'd mention that Griswold's Edge can only be found in singleplayer.
At least, that's what I believe.
Personally, for the SP Warrior, I think G.E. is the best Unique sword item
to have. Yes, 'knock back' can be a pain at times w/ranged attackers, but
the fire hit damage and fast attack make it very good to have for the
warrior. Just equip somthing w/out knockback for those situations where
it's not needed.

I've found this twice, in the caver and the hell levels. It can be useful
to the sorceror and Rogue for a while, but the Warrior is much better off
with something like Awesome Full Plate of almost anything (of Pain wouldn't
be great, haha!)

I've found this one in the catacomb levels. Besides the lightning damage,
it's not very exciting as Uniques go. I usually sell it.

Well, I've been hunting Uniques the past week or so. You may have read
some of my postings on the subject.
There's speculation on my part that if you're carrying/equipping a few
Uniques when you start a new game, that you'll tend to find more Uniques.
The more the better.

any item!):
Does not exist in hellfire and is not possible to find in multiplayer
Diablo, only single player. Still VERY RARE in single player!

I have found Lightforge once in Varaya and Khan's Ultimate Diablo. Even
though it was modified execute code, it was still a minor epiphany for my
character.
