I would like to know what are the best items you use. I'm sure that all
you masters out there will surely astonish us with some Godly Plate of
the Whale And With the Zodiac on Its Back on so on.
MY best weapon as a rogue is a Merciless Bow of Flaming:
DAM: 1-14
+175% damage
fire arrows dam - 1-16

Generally my best (legit) items are:
Dragon's (55) Amulet of the Zodiac (+18)
Ring of the Zodiac (+18)
Arch-Angel's staff of Wizardy (+30), damage 6-12
King's Sword of Haste, not sure, +81% to hit and +151% damage I think, 4-12
Awesome Plate (75 + 140%)
Godly shield of the Ages (20 + 196%)
However 'best' is subject to taste, playing style and class, not to mention
level.

ah, no. the knockback makes it hard as hell to aim, and that's not good in
nightmare/hell and hell/hell. so, IMO, the best bow is Merciless/Strange
Long War Bow of Heavens/Thunder/Burning.

Truth Be told I've found that the key for my Mage has been Harmony.
Since level 20 or so I've been wearing Obsidion mail (thats splint mail)
of harmony AC 34 +40 resist all. That mail permitted me to get to
level 38 before i finally found Naj's light plate. I still wear the Ob mail
on occasion when in a situation requiring fast get-away. As far as rings
are concerned, as long as i have harmony then my next goal has been
resistance. Thus I wear and Obsidian ring (thats all it does) and jade
amulet of wizardry for further resistance. Couple this with high spell
levels it makes me quite potent as a mage. This character has made
it to level 40 mostly in solo IPX play without ever cheating in any way--
even duping. I wish I could find an obsidian ring/amulet of anything--you
know just to add a little something extra on top of the plain old "all it
does is resist ring" i've been using forever just about.

You can't *find* Holy plates in regular Diablo, and they are too expensive
to buy. So that Holy Full Plate of Sorcery is hack in a way or another.

holy plate....(not "of sorcery" it was dunno how much extra that would
be) didn't spend any on elixirs or anything like that and I had piles
of gold laying around town cause I couldnt carry anything else in
inventory if I was carrying all the gold.....
Level 26 Rogue - 100% legit (i'm not smart enough to even hack Duke
Nukem let alone Diablo) ;-)

I think that's the catch. A Holy plate with no suffix should be possible
at Wirt's (but not a perfect one) even in multiplayer but one with
"sorcery" should push the price over the 140K limit. By my rough
estimate, a Holy/sorcery full plate should cost well over 200K. Can
anybody verify or correct this?
That brings up another question: If a mere Holy/sorcery costs over 200K,
then how would a GPOW be possible even in 1.00? Even without a price
limit, nobody can carry that much gold at once.

It wouldn't. The item generation and pricing routines have not changed since
1.00. Anyone who tells you "My Impossible Foo of Hacking is legit, I got it
in 1.xx" is either deceived or deceiving. The Wirt pricing bug (allowing one
to buy for less than the displayed asking price) did not reduce either the
price cap or the actual prices of items, only the amount of gold you
actually had to have to acquire them... in other words, just because you
could buy a 139,000GP item for less than 100K, didn't mean that you could
buy a 141K item at all.

As for Windforce's knockback being detrimental to hitting guys... You get
used to it. Then it is a major blessing. Let me describe a situation. Your
a rogue, and your having a merry ol' time waltzing around on level 16 minding
your own business. When suddenly! <dramatic sound effect> a band of vicious
blood knights jump you. There all around you! There is no escape! As a
rogue you can't cast spells fast enough or quickly kill a Blood Knight.
Normally you would mean a scream and a visit to town. But with the Windforce
you hit each each one knight with a single arrow and he is thrown back, away
from you. Now you have room. You have time. You can (at your leisure)
dispatch these annoying fellows.

I prefer just doing ALOT of damage with the bow, keeps em stun locked
till they die....(I use a vicious bow of maiming) I kill one Blood
Knight quick and then run away to string the rest out. Hell thats how
I killed the big D himself, just kept him stun locked with the bow
till he died....(course i had to make it past all those damn fireballs
that would eat my mana shield in 1 shot)
