Ok, I'm wondering if anyone has the straight dope on this item my brother
traded for online a few days ago.

Corruption Rift (rare Small Charm)

+7 (!) to skill levels
100% better chance of finding magic items

I didn't think there could be such a thing as a rare charm, so I am wondering
if this is a hacked item (not that I have any idea how one would go about
making such an item). Because we currently have two computers with two separate
connections, we were able to dupe this thing so as to have, oh, 3 or 4 for each
of our characters. With 3 of these ridiculous things, my 51st level Paladin
does 1050 - 1168 points of damage with Smite, Fanaticism, and Holy Shield. I
feel downright dirty.

Should I? Is it actually possible to find this item in the game?

The name sounds close to the "Constricting Ring", which is a ring that
requires level 95 and does indeed have +100% magic find (I don't know
about the +7 skills though). I don't believe rare charms are supposed
to exist.

Sounds pretty fishy to me. Was it on Open or Closed B.net ? If it's open I
would think it's a hack.

It's a hack. I do hope this was open B.net. There are no rare charms, and
there's NOTHING that adds +7 all skills on a single item. +3 max.

You should feel dirty. Get rid of the things.

Well, that would explain it. I don't go online much, and I honestly don't even
know the difference between open and closed battle net. How do people go about
creating these hacked items?

+7 on anything is a hack-job, period. Secondly, I've never seen a rare
charm and I've gone through the expansion on Normal difficulty with four
different characters, along with a level 51 Necromancer. This rare charm
seems fishy to me too (I agree with Christopher Childs here).

There are no rare charms - maybe in the beta test there was but not now.

Yeah, I'm sure you have seen EVERYTHING by going thru Normal mode so many
times... lol. You made a decent arguement, but that piece of back-up info
was just rediculous. You will never see MOST of the decent items in the game
if all you've gone thru is Normal mode...

Read Blizzard's own site oer any of the other sites on the game
(http://www.planetdiablo.com or http://www.diabloii.net) and they state
that there are NO rare charms. It is a hack (+7 to all skilss?) yeah
right.

Why? If you're going to cheat, cheat like you mean it.

Since you probably won't find 3 or 4 per player in a game, why would that
matter to you?
