Well consider these points...
A. A 3d accelerated-only version of a game will be smaller (and probably
easier to code) than a software rendered version.
B. Redguard is one of those games that really need an accelerator.

Hardly true. We (my family) gut Redguard then a 3Dfx card a few weeks later and
it WAS batter but not all that much. We ended up puting the software version
back so we didn't have to restart.

Well almost any game that uses 3d graphics can benefit from a 3d
accelerator, especially those people near the low end of the system
requirements. Not everybody has a Pentium 2 you know. :-)
