Hello all,

I was playing Daggerfall this morning and got the message: "Daggerfall has
detected the error 519", and then was forced to Reboot or Quit. I searched
DejaNews < http://deja.com > and it had no matches when I searched for 519.

Can anybody offer any help?

Thanks a loads!

I don't know what error 519 is supposed to be , but Daggerfall has a
tendency to produce the most outrageous error numbers :)

Has this happened more than once ? Try to load a saved game and play on from
there . Probably everything is back to normal , as far as there is something
called normal in Daggerfall :)

I've had them 519 error messages, if you get several it means DeFrag
your hard drive, it works for me anyhow :)

Cheers,
Freddy.

Thanks, everybody, for your responses. I did a ScanDisk and a DeFrag, but
that didn't help. I tried SaveFix, and it didn't report any error, and the
program still bombed. I was getting the error as I was teleporting off my
ship back to town. I tried unloading my wagon in the ship's hold, (I didn't
think I had THAT much in it) and it seemed to work.

There may have been another "feature" at work here. I went to Gothway
Gardens (?) to dump my inventory at that really cheap store. I sold
everything (weapons, armour, clothes, ingredients, etc.), and then checked
my wagon to see what was left to sell. WHAT!!?? There was still armour and
weapons still in my wagon! Why didn't he buy them, too? I went back in,
clicked "Sell", and none of that stuff came up for sell! I went and other
store and tried the same thing! It wouldn't come up. So I figured there
was a bug - oops sorry - "feature" at work here, and dumped the whole lot of
it in the middle of the square, and left it!

Maybe the Error 519 and the unsellable items may have been related - or not.
I don't know. Better safe than sorry.

By the way... the character I'm currently building is going to be a
"superman", with only one goal in mind. I'm going to try for a record.
That record is the fastest "real-time" completion of the main quest -
excluding Lady Briesienna's (sp?) initial summons. Any guesses how long it
will take me? I went to visit her, and now I'm building my character's
strengths before taking on the entire Main Quest in one sitting!

Something funny (funny - ha! ha!, not funny - weird) happened the other day.
I'm out in the desert, practicing my archery by sleeping for 12 hours
(facing north) and waiting for any enemy to show up. By facing north, the
enemy is facing away, and I sometimes get a successsful backstab. That
helps, too! I'd shoot my arrow(s), go pick the body for my arrow(s), and
sleep for another 12 hours. Loads of fun! After doing this for a couple of
hours (real-time), I turned around, and traced my way back due south. I
counted over 65 bodies before the trail ended! (back into a new square?)

Boy, sorry for the long post; but I've got several things on my mind. When
I was practicing my archery out in the desert, I'd occasionally get a
successful backstab. I'd go search the body for my arrow (usually a rat or
bat or something like that). I'd get the "inventory screen", but there
would be no items to "Remove". What happened to my arrow? Did the arrow
pass straight thru the (bat/rat) and out the other side?

And last of all... The general concensus I've gotten over time is that
nymphs are fairly rare and hard to find. Well, when I was out in the desert
doing my archery thing, I was getting nymphs about 1 out of every 5
encounters! That's NOT rare! If you want to know where I was, email me!
:->

Thanks for your time. Talk to ya'll later...

First of all: just call them Bugs. Know them and fear them. There are some
things to prevent Bugs, more or less though. If it has to do with the amount
of stuff you are carrying with you, make sure you only take the things you
need now or in the near future. Also, add the line

objmem 12000

to z.cfg. This will reserve memory especially for items you are carrying
and/or that are on the shelves. These things usually deal with the problems.
Good luck!

Not all stores will buy all types of equipment.

I think only weapon smiths and armorers will buy armor.

Pawn shops also accept armour. IIRC, there's a bug of some sort to do with
trying to sell items directly off the wagon. Perhaps you (Gary, I mean :-)
might try putting the items into personal inventory before selling, and see
if that helps?
