[C2] Possible COB idea - a doozer pen?

Various people have mentioned sticking doozers
in the incubator as a way of keeping them around
to train norns. It just occured to me that perhaps a
good C2 COB would be some kind of pen to keep
your doozers in. The catch, though, is that I can't
cobble, and haven't even got C2 yet. Anyway, thought
I'd mention the idea in case anyone wants to take it on.

Wow, I bet that would look adorable!! A little bitty cage with doozers
wandering around in it... Awwww!

It especially appeals to me because I, for one, can't figure out how
to drop them into the incubator. *deep sigh*

<giggle>A doozer corral! I have that picture stuck in my head, now. A bunch of
doozers wandering around in their pen like cattle. Except they'll spout nouns
instead of mooing. :-) I'm feeling rather freakish today, blame it on all th'

But wouldn't that be saying like you want th' fish in C1 t' breed? They're not
species, or anything...right? I'm confusing myself... Which reminds me, just
how many doozers are in C2? (I'd say at a time, but they don't die, correct?)

My eyes have been opened wide! The doozers are androids built by the
Shee to look like cute little dudes and to take the role of wandering
tutors. Let's hope their programming doesn't go corrupt and they turn
evil like in the movie WestWorld. I can just hear the evil little
synthetic hairballs teaching our Norns that "cliffedge" means "food"
or "mate" when we aren't looking.

Or "push water" even!

Actually, what I really, REALLY want are Doozers that are edible.
I want my creatures to be able to grab those Doozers and devour them,
leaving behind a little Doozer skeleton.

I think Doozers are cute as can be, but I really think they ought to
be Food.

I also enjoy tossing them into the ocean. Is this considered to be
Doozer torture?

What *I* really want is a way to alter what the dooser says. I don't want to
type 'implement' all the time. I don't want to call it a leftright.

You can hold the dooser in your hand and hold him in the ocean, because he
screams all the time.

I used to like to kill the ants, until I read that the Ettin likes to eat them.
Aww, poor little guy.

It's funny how everything is a little interdependant (or maybe I'll just do
anything for someone as lonely as those two are?). Now I just drown weeds.
Not as mean, but satisfying because I've almost got the cacti wiped out above
the incubator.
I sank the seed implements for those two plants as well. I don't want any
norns undoing my great work.

I agree, that doosers should be edible.. if you teach a norn to eat fish,
they always turn around and try and eat the dooser... there's an idea for a
cob: how about classifying goodplants as 'edibles' and 'inedibles'? The
same with doosers.. edible critters and inedible critters.. maybe 'munch'
would be a good term. It's no wonder the poor little things are getting
confused when half of one objec group are edible, and the other half aren't.

Yes. The classifications are not helpful at all. I've had some
success getting C2 Norns, even hatchery ones, to eat fish, but there
is still that confusion. I don't feel it was necessary, either, to
use extra slots on varieties of movers, when Norns do not truly
remember routes, etc.

Mine just stare in disbelief when I tell them to eat the fish. I
think the fruit should reduce thirst as well as hunger. Who ever
heard of dehydrated tomatoes on the vine?

I've patched my pumps to reduce thirst and I plan to cobble together
some more patches to make things consistent, so you guys just keep
talking and I'll listen. :)

I did that too. Now, here's my question: Do the cactus grow underwater like
the jellyfish swims in the air? Or am I going to have an ocean full of
cactus?

I wish they had made saguaro cactus for the desert.

Yes! They should give creatures the same elements as the real thing,
even if it requires ten stim statements.

I'm looking forward to the pumps patch. They should learn to drink
water--my creatures seem afraid of the pumps.

I was playing with the ants the other day. I've noticed that if
you keep killing them one by one, eventually the Queen ant will
fly out of the mound (which disappears). She flies around for a
while then starts a new nest in another spot. So you may still
have ants in Albia, they're just hidden away where you cannot
molest them *grin*.

I've run into that problem; my Norns will eat fish as long as there
are no Doozers around. I just chuck the Doozers into the sea before
attempting this. Unfortunately all of my Zander fish are gone at
this point, except for the two that I threw into the pond located
by the hatchery. I've 'reseeded' the ocean with Zander fish eggs but
I guess it'll be an Albian year before they'll hatch.

If Doozers are adjusted so they become edible, they'll have to be
able to breed as well, otherwise they'll be an extremely endangered
species.

Oddly enough, none of my Norns has ever indicated that they were
'thirsty'. They constantly walk into the pump by the hatchery
pond, but I don't think that says much; they walk into walls over and
over again as well.

One of my first generation Norn females lived to be three hours old,
and was in perfect health with all organs intact. I never had to inject
her with anything. She never took a drink of anything in all that time,
as far as I could tell. I ended up getting four eggs out of her, before
she died.

Hmm... perhaps she would have lived longer if she had managed to drink
once or twice *grin*

Well it had already dropped down to a one ant-nest world when I started
out testing harrasment of ants <evil grin>... the queen flew around
everywhere
and tried making nests.. to no avail as I wasn't making it easy for her...
anyhow
she disapeared somewhere in the Shee Labs and I have not seen her, a nest,
or any ants since.. and that was two albian years ago.

So far I can't see much difference to the ecosystem.. but of course detritus
isn't disappearing as fast as it used to.

All I can say is -= Don't do as I did =- Now for that world at least I will
have to wait till one of the clever COB makers designs an injectable
Queen Ant!!! (please someone!!) hehe

Oh right, so you know all about the C2 Albia ecosystem do you?
I wouldn't suggest making definite statements unless you can provide
evidence. They've made a pseudo ecosystem for C2 and we are all
newbies as to what happens when certain aspects of that system
are absent.

I will keep people informed how my antless albia goes... when I get

I put a dooser in the air lock once, then I filled it with water. It
screamed and screamed but it didn't die. Did anyone happen to notice
that none of the flying animals seem to drown? (bees, butterflies, bats,
lightning bug, etc..) Also.. did anyone else notice that there are no
birds in the world? How can you have a complete eco-system without
birds?

I find that odd too. For the longest time I thought the lightning

I like doozerz. I'd love to see an edible doozer though...that would

I noticed not only that, but that the mushrooms actually give off
alcohol when pushed as opposed to pulled. That means that plants are
actually not really beneficial, which is why I stopped calling them
herbs and pulled the instinct to approach from my C306 genome. I
suppose the alcohol received from pushing is supposed to punish them
for pushing when hungry, or something like that, but all it it does is
result in drunken norns who still don't "eat food".

It's on the web at the same site where the C2 Force Field is. The front page
is <http://members.xoom.com/tsi333/index.htm>, but not much displays because of
some sort of HTML error (probably a mistake in a table). If you check the
source code, the page you want is <http://members.xoom.com/tsi333/c2cob.htm>.
There's the caramel candy dooser COB, lettuce (water and nutrients), and more.

I'm too low in the hierarchy at UIC to officially even
*have* an opinion, so this sure isn't theirs.
