Hi!
I have MAJOR problems with some of my applets in C2 deluxe.
I can't run the observation kit at all (I get a message that says
something about can't establish communication with applet). I also have
problems with the agent injector. Sometimes (quite often) when the game
crashes, and I restore world, the agent injector won't run.
This is really starting to annoy me...I spend more than half the time
trying to fix the game rather than playing it :-/
Help?

/Anna

Hi, Anna. It sounds to me like you may need to uninstall and reinstall
C2. I am sure of one thing, though: you will get help in this news
group, as long as Ping doesn't respond to your post!!! (He, he) ^ ^

** After your game crashes and you restore the world, try rebooting. If that
doesn't work, then try double-clicking on the following in your C2 folder after
you reboot: BreedersKit, ChroniclesKit, Creatures2, EcologyKit, GraveyardKit,
Hatchery, HealthKit, InjectorKit, NeuroscienceKit, ObservationKit, OwnersKit,
and ScienceKit. Not necessarily in that order, but double-click all of them.
Cyberlife tech support says that will re-establish communication between the
applets and the game itself.
Hope this helps,
- Blue

Yup. That's C2 for ya.

try going into the folder where the applets are and double clicking the
.exe files for them. This is supposed to restablish connection. But it
won't stop the game from crashing every five minutes. try no to do
anything (especially with applets) that while the program is auto-saving
and keep only one open at a time, if that.

BTW, Welcome to InSaNiTy!!! :`)

Oh now that's just not fair. There are plenty people for whom C2
runs just fine. Some of us even run with 3 applets open continously.
I just kept my mouth shut because, not ever having had that problem,
I had no solution. Anna, make shure you have any patches CL made
for C2. I hope you get it all smothed out, tho the norns can at times be
frustrating, it is a good game. This is the best place to get answers to
(almost) all problems with Creatures(1,2&3). Never say die.

I don't see what fair/unfair has to do with me commiserating with a fellow
C2 victim?

I'm not the only one who gave up spending time banging my head against my
desk because it was continuously crashing my machine!

I created the FAQ Compendium out of my outrage. You weren't here when the
levels of rage and frustration broke over the newsgroup. Do you think it's
*fair* that some of us can't get the damn game to work at all?? Sheesh!
Have you read my C2 FAQs?

Which version of C2 did you purchase, Grey?
I'm beginning to think I should go out and buy the C2 Deluxe, since it
sounds like it will work better than patching up both my copies of the
original C2. The only problem is that by doing that more money would go to
Mindlessscrape/Mattel!

I should think you might have a bit more compassion for those of us who
can't run the game, rather than calling us unfair for expressing our
opinions about it.

It's a pitty it's so hard to show inflection and implied meaning in writing
as one can when spoken. I was refering to the all encompassing "Yup. That's
C2 for ya."
Something in the tone of "slightly wounded"?

Warez it - I don't consider there to be any moral problems there, seeing as
the bugs shouldn't have been there in the first place, and if you don't use
the lifekit unless you paid for it.

I already bought the C2 life kit 1 and Half of the Lifekit2, but, LOL! I
wouldn't have a clue about Warez anyway, and it sounds far too complicated
all round. I don't have that kind of energy. So, if I see a copy of C2
Deluxe anywhere about I'll probably purchase it. It can't be more than ten
bucks nowadays. I got a second copy of C1 for $3.95 just before Christmas.

CL is selling C2Deluxe 50% off on the website, I bought it there and
installed it and really I haven't had problems since (well.. it's just
a couple of days really! But with my original copy I would have had to
reinstall it at least 5 times), so probably some bugs have really been
fixed. Good luck!
