to which i reply:

since you didn't mention it, i'll start with the basics:

have you tried the Dune series? by Westwood
have you tried C&C Red Alert? by Westwood

these are all i know (notice the trend?)

Was this subsequent or previous to c&c? Does it have better graphics?

to which i reply:

oh, peter
Dune original predated C&C.
i have not played it, nor its later versions.
some say C&C is simple Dune (which if you don't know, is from the movie of the
same name, and is Science Fiction based) in the here and now.
Having seen the demo for Dune at my brothers house for five minutes, i can see
the resemblence. but that is as far as it goes.

maybe someone else has seen the latest Dune, and can comapre it.

C&C was based on the Dune 2 engine. Dune 2 was released in 1992, so you
figure out which one has better graphics. :)

What do you mean the Dune SERIES?? There was only one RTS set on Arrakis
(Dune). The original Dune was a Role-Playing/Action Game.

>have you tried C&C Red Alert? by Westwood

I think he means games other than the ones in the Westwood universe. Like
Civilization... oh... wait that's not a RTS... nevermind. Rebellion is one,
but it's not out yet. Rebellion is a RTS set in the Star Wars universe.

Dune 2 is a game which was written by Westwood Studios. It was based on the
science fiction movie, "Dune" Yes it came before Command & Conquer. In fact, it
was the first real-time strategy game ever made! (At least, of this build your own
base, destroy the enimie's kind) I have played. It was innovative. (Imagine
calling a real time strategy game innovative now!) Some of the unit types were
carried along to Command & Conquer such as the MCV. But the graphics weren't as
good.

Sorry for being such a dumb cluck, but I'm not heavily into computer games.

Hi. On the 23/1/98 Shah posted a picture from Dune 2000. The graphics were
much better than C & C, so I was wondering where this fits into the scheme
of things?

do you mean C&C DOS or C&C win95? i understand that the Win95 version has
better graphics than the DOS (makes sense, later is usually better, prettied
up). maybe win95 graphics are as good as Dune 2.
