Any idea on why this has been delayed?

Thanks in advance

It cause Westwood are fucked up. They won't release it while c&c
sales are still high, as the release would obviously slow down c&c
sales...

This is a part of the 40th Game Review,
and as you see Red Alert will be released
on 08/10, also the win 95 C&C2
will be released on that day.

Actually, it's because of an O-ring failure, something to do with network
play. And there will be NO SVGA support for DOS. Sucks...

Hers My Reply from Westwood!

As you know, writing software isn't an exact science. Up until a few

weeks ago, it really looked like we would make our original
release
date, but now it looks like our original estimates of October
were a
little ambitious.

Because we're writing both the DOS and Windows 95 versions of Red

Alert at the same time, things are taking a little longer to
finish
up. Plus, the added internet support for the Windows95 version is

going to take longer than we expected to test thoroughly.

However, this isn't one of those delays which will take months
and
months to fix. (I have every expectation that we'll be done
long
before Christmas.) Keep an eye on the Red Alert countdown page,

since we will be keeping it updated when we can estimate a
revised
release date.

Thanks for the support!

I played Red Alert on Wednesday at a sales meeting and it rocked.
It's definately worth the wait. I don't know if you're right about it
not having SVGA support in DOS though because we were playing in WIN95
and it was using DirectX 3.

The delay happens to put the release just in time for the Xmas market,
doesn't it? If so, good marketing -- or is there another delay?
