Well, when I lost my previous job I reluctantly had to unsubscribe to
City of Heroes (choice of food or fun and cannot have fun if I have no
food).
I stopped posting here for quite a while too (used to repost all of the
game update news regularly).
Best chance for the game's survival is being picked up by STEAM or Zynga
right now.
Have it be a modest cash cow in a large herd of modest cash cows or
another ready-sell title to add to the STEAM playlist library.
There are some movements in play (I alerted the COH/V player community
in-game through the "Looking for Group" channel in my "Underbear" guise),
but most are the useless "petition" nonsense and trying to ape celebrities
into voicing support for an 8-year-old game (though updated frequently) in
the media. Petitions are fine for "emotional closure" purposes (granting
the illusion that the petition signer "did something" when all they actually
did was add another number increment to a long list that very few will
read). Focused petitioning for a suitable new home for continuing the game
and transferring the player accounts intact is what is needed for a useful
goal to be gained.
Talk is many things, but usually for an orphaned game and game-studio
team, what is needed is direction and focus and most importantly the talk of
earnable profit by adopting the now orphaned game of "City of Heroes" into a
new homestead.
