I heard the game was ftp now, and me being broke and all, I decided to
check it out, after an hour of trying to get past their new
verification I finally did, and now I see I've got 400 points.

What can (should) I do with these and how?

I understand there's less character slots, before logging in is there
anything I need to do to ensure I have the most slots/best characters
and don't lose any or lose as few as possible? I had all my slots
filled up with fairly high level if not maxed out characters on
freedom CoV side, and Virtue CoH side.

Also any other good ftp MMOs these days? Anything better than CoX
(assuming that's even possible :))?

Hey, dude.

Man, I miss CoX. I keep trying to get play time and can't find it, knowing
that it's changed so much I'll need to spend a week learning the new parts.
(I doubt any old-style players are still on and playing it that way.)

The points buy you costumes, power sets, auras etc.

Anyone else out there, still? Anyone want to pack up for an old-timer's
night or weekend or something?

I was kind of feeling meh about it after playing for a bit. I I did
roll a new brute up to about 6th, and liked that they've changed the
beginning quests villain side. But I mainly like to try new combos
and whatnot, and I don't have the money/points to buy the new power
sets which seem to be around 800-1200 points

Cost of everything at the Black Market seems to be about 3x what it
was in influence, of course you can sell stuff for that too, so I
suppose it doesn't really matter. I still kinda wish the invention
stuff was never added, it's too much crap to keep track of that's not
fun on a limited time budget.

My VG doesn't seem to exist any more, but then it's been a couple
years.

I'm thinking I need to find something else that's FTP to try, but I'd
be more willing to play if I had people to play with. My time is
pretty limited too though. I might get about from 8:30pm to 9:30pm
pst if I'm lucky every night (after my son goes to sleep, before I
have to go to sleep). I'm going to be off work in a couple weeks for
6 weeks though after our 2nd baby is born, so I might have more time
to keep me occupied - assuming I'm not trying to catch some sleep
every free moment.

The guys at the local store tried to get em, but they just can't, not
even trying to get them from the web store to be sold to a customer in
store - not allowed.

I'd happily still subscribe, but their stupid policy means I can't

Not that many people play Redside I think so the prices always remain
high. can't say for sure as I haven't been redside in a couple of
years.

Although I have been thinking about making a villain, just to check
things out again redside.

You can of course mail yourself some inf from another character that has
lots (assuming you have access to any, just sent the mail to your global
name and any of your characters can then collect it
inf/salvage/recipes/enhancements/etc can all be mailed between your
characters. [The only limit is you have to be level 10 to send mail I
think.])
Failing that, shoot me your global and I'll mail you a million to smooth
things out (I tend to do this for my new characters as well, since the
early levels suck when you're poor.

Not surprising the way people leave games these days.

Well should I be around, I'm up for teaming.

Oh I should note that I only play on Virtue - used all my veteran
character slot unlocks there without thinking so I don't actually have a
choice in the matter now that I'm stuck in freeplay mode.

I can't remember which server I used to play on but I don't think that
they're there anyway as I had 4 character slots available and I think
that's the maximum you can have for free to play.

Are there EU and US servers? Maybe they are on US servers - I tried
downloading both clients but they end up with the same character list
so it looks like they either make sure that you are on your relevant
server group or that there is only one server group for everyone.

I don't play often and my highest level was in the low 20s so I wasn't
bothered enough to raise a support call.

All your characters should still be there, on whatever server you left
them on. You may have lost their names though if someone wanted to use
those names while your characters were inactive.

There's no EU/US split anymore, everyone has access to all the servers,
except the new VIP server - that you have to be a subscriber to get on.

Most of mine are in the 20s and 30s - I get bored and continually make
new characters as soon as things become not fun or I get a new character
concept/costume idea.
I moved a bunch of my existing characters off Virtue when they gave out
free move tokens a ways back - plus I moved servers a lot in the early
days so I've got characters scattered all over the place. Of course
they're all unusable at the moment since all my unlocks are on Virtue
only (unless I find a way to subscribe, in which case all the normal
slots unlock on all servers.)

After nearly 7 years of playing I still have only 2 level 50 characters,
1 hero and 1 villain (only bothered to unlock the EPIC ATs.) Couple
others in the 40s that I just never bothered finishing up since the only
thing to do with a level 50 used to be endless hamidon raids, which
always seemed pointless to me.
[Fight him to get Hamidon enhancements in order to make you stronger so
you can fight him more. Still don't see the point.]

All the markets were merged with Going Rogue, so there's no difference
between the Black Market and Wentworth's any more. While you're now
subject to rich bluesiders marketeering things, it's now possible to
buy things redside that were basically completely unavailable before,
so, you know, capitalism giveth, capitalism taketh away.

Wait for bundles of more character slots to go on sale. As a "freemium"
your biggest limit is the number of available characters, so buying more
slots would seem to be the biggest bang for the buck.

The first rule of this kind of DLC thing is of course that it *always* goes
on sale if you wait a bit.
