Just thought I'd throw out a hello.

I miss Paragon City something awr'ful. I tell myself it's stupid, but I
find myself wandering familiar vistas every time I daydream.

I miss it too. Can't find an MMO to replace it either.

Yep. I tried CO for a bit after CoH went down, and it was just awful. I play
the Secret World now, and although it's good, it's not CoH.

How do you control things? Just wondering if it's worth the one time cost?

I'm not sure what you mean by how do you control things. Controlling your
character is pretty normal for a MMORPG. Combat is somewhat different than
CoH because mobility is a factor. There are no classes. There is a skill
wheel from which you select skills as you progress. The wheel is divided
into sections and the skills progress within sections (ie you must take the
first before yo\u can take the second). If you play a particular character
long enough, theres no reason you couldn't eventually take all the skills,
although it would take a very long time.

Another thing that sets this game apart from others is the wide variety of
mission types, including puzzle missions that require real world research to
solve. They provide an in-game browser to aid in that regard.

Another positive is the setting. Not another standard fantasy orcs elves and
dwarves extravaganza.

Nice community as well.

Really, since the free to play part is really closer to true with this game
than another other f2p game I've tried, I think the one time purchase price
is well worth it.

I have the reactions of a sick turtle. ;-)

In CoH you had the number keys, and then I always opened all 3 trays for
my powers. I was just wondering how you activated/switched the powers in
Secret World.

Missions do look nice.

If they still had the 3 day free trial, I'd know if it was worth it or
not.

I like Fantasy, but I've had enough of it, too.

In TSW, you can only have 14 skills active at one time, 7 active and 7
passive. So you have one 7 place tray that you need to worry about.

Theme was, TSW isn't really fantasy, unless you consider Lovecraft crossed
with X-Files to be fantasy. It certainly isn't fantasy of the elves, orcs
and dwarves variety.

I just wandered by.

I read recently about a couple "Indi Fan CoX" attempts at creating a
new MMO similar to CoX, but it seemed a bit incoherent. I'll post the
article later if I can find it again.

I'm pretty much out of MMOs/online games due to the home situation
anyway, but really enjoyed World of Tanks for a bit, and SWTOR isn't
bad, though it really makes me miss flying.

The effort by Titan seems sincere and might eventually produce something.
in the meantime, there is a runtime module called Icon that keeps getting
better and better - at first, it would just let you play in the character
creator, now it lets you enter an increasing number of the maps. No
gameplay, no AIs, no interactivity, but you can wander and poke to your
heart's content.

i feel bad because i made too many damn toons....too many power combinations and so little time (from 2005 to last december) to try them all....so i never got a character to max level.

and i only found out my niece played it after the fact....i could have used someone to game with.

id like to buy rights to it and ressurrect....along with "do what thou wilt" mission editor missions....i hated it when they nerfed that

i was walking into the plant at work one day when it was drizzly outside and the catwalks over my head next to the large cylindrical storage tanks made me feel at home....in sharkhead.

i yelled "scrapyard is up"

Cool story ;). I occasionally think of some random mission in cube farm as I wander my cube farm at work.

Wandering by again as I'm missing it again. Never really stuck with SWTOR, my old SG is still keeping in touch, but floundering around playing different things.

I started playing Marvel Heroes 2015. It's no CoH, but it seems to be scratching the itch. FTP at least. I've heard people compare it to Diablo II, but not really seeing it that much. Loving Squirrel Girl, my favorite hero so far. She's like a squirrel mastermind. :)

One of the indies - Valiance Online - has a testable pre-alpha now! I actually got it to run on my Win7 machine for some days, although the latest patch seems to have broken it for my machine. There are a few dozen people still testing it out though. It is pre-alpha, buggy and unspeakably unfinished, so only for people who seriously want to give a helping hand. But it already has the most CoH feel I have ever felt after November 2012. It probably helps that their testing zone is as much of an Atlas Park copy as you can get without risking a lawsuit. Actually, they probably should drop that zone before release, which is anyway years in the future. But those could be years of a lot of fun if we could get a bunch of hardened beta testers together and hunt bugs in Atwood Park.

I saw Missing Worlds Media (City of Titans) was in talks with NCSoft to acquire rights to be an actual sequel, which would allow them to have an actual atlas park etc. which would be awesome. Unfortunately that isn't the same company, and I can't find anything about their progress otherwise on CoT

I'll consider checking out the beta testing, I did a lot of bug hunting for Temple of Elemental Evil patches, it wasn't much fun, and my time is far more limited now with family, but it's interesting to see something going on at least.

I'm surprised I'm still playing Marvel Heroes too, every day the last few I think, this will be the last day I'll play, but I keep coming back.
