He doesn't always appear but Norwegian Tommy Svindal Larsen is a MLC player
who averages 7.5 with ~12 goals a season & reasonable amounts of
assists.Plays for staebek and can be bought for 200 K then sold within 1
year £5-10M.

Marcio Santos from Sao Paulo £1.5M CB averages 7.5 but will only join 17+
teams and always wants ~45k wages .

Now this guy is good, Brazillian International, cheap, worth every penny, even
player of the year a few times, funny, when i play him with another really good
buy Robert Page D/M Cof Watford, the later doesnt perform that well, but
without Santos playing, he's great..( both for my Liverpool btw). weird. Tommy
Svindal Larsen doesnt work for me, have him playing for Bordeaux atm and he
keeps getting injured and struggling after 2 years.. Martin Lauchlan DMLC
(Partick Thistle) is always good.

If you want cheap players, try looking at the international teams for countries like Liberia and The
Ivory Coast. You can usually pick up cheap strikers who you can soon sell for millions.

Robert Page is always very good...but make sure you're a Premier side
because if you are d1 or lower he has a big-club release clause and ends up
going after six months!

Richard Wright's not cheap...but easily worth whatever it takes

Melville (DC-Sunderland) always goes up to around 2m and you can usually get
him for about 600k

Jimmy Crawford (MC) - worth whatever it costs

Hreidarsson (Iceland LB) - also worth whatever

He plays for Willem II in my version, and is fooking ace. The greatest
player in the game, though, is Delvision Nascimento Canigia from AZ. He
averages about a goal a game, which is the only time I've seen this
occur. Except for Leon Mike from Man City B.. He's cheaper, and just as
good.

This is easy to solve just put him on loan as soon as you buy him than
nobody will approach to buy him just approach to loan him then it is
easy you just refuse

Santos is usually my first buy - it used to be a double swoop with denilson
for £2.5M but i had to go and download an update where he had been
transfered to Betis and cost £14M.
btw that update also cost me Morten Bisgard , Bjarne Goldbaek

Sylvian Legwinski , Christophe Revault and Florian Maurice are the 3 others
i usually try to get.

Anyone else got any standard players they always buy

In my new update he plays for Willem II. He transferred last summer to
Willem II. Maybe an idea to renew your database.

You could also try offering them a new contract as soon as you sign them . I
always do this because some of the players (1 in 4) will always ask for
roughly the same wages / terms but without the Big-Club Release clause .

Depends on a number of things - are you using a roster update? What
leagues are you playing (determines what "extra" players get
included)? Top or bottom division?

With the caveats that I play with the basic CM2E starting in Div 3 in
97-98 (usu. England, Italy, Spain/France/Germany), I've had good
results from:

Any Man U youngster (Mulryne, Brown, Curtis, Notman, Nevland).
The Partick Thistle (!?!) youngsters (Ritchie, Lauchlan, Martin).
Some free transfers:
Darren Evans, DL
John Foster, DRC
Graeme Tomlinson, FC
Kevin James, DC, Falkirk
Bjorn Heidenstrom, MC, Leyton Orient (one of the biggest mistakes in
the database, but take advantage of it if you can)
Russell Anderson, DR, Arsenal?
Richard Wright, of course.

And if you start with a big club, pay any price for Ariel Ortega. My
last Darlington game, I got Michael Owen from Man U at the beginning
of 2001-2. They got him from the Liverpool reserves (I think because
of an LTI), but he couldn't get in the team behind Ortega, Kluivert,
and Scholes. Due to timely injuries, and the two full seasons he
didn't get matches, Owen had only 8 caps before his 25th birthday. Of
course, in that game Man U didn't suffer for the loss - Ortega and
Scholes basically traded off the scoring title for the next five
years.

I find that John Curtis and Rio Ferdinand shore up my defence for a good
eight or ten seasons. If you want value for money, then get both of
them.

Have to agree with Svindal Larsen bought him for about 250,000 did
well for about 3 seasons and then sold him to Aresnal for 7.5 million

yup, Heidenstrom played for my local norwegian team Odd BK, and spent
about a month on loan with Orient. He's now at a norwegian 2nd
division side (Tollnes). He's a decent defensive midfielder, but not
exactly PL material...
