Thanks,

If all else fails you can take him on later or cheese him with cloudkill but
I totally don't recommend that. A fight with a dragon is something to
remember :)
Keep trying, the reward is well worth it.

Conclusion: cast two lower resistance spells on him and kill him with skull
traps, cloud kills, magic missles, whatever, while your fighters or summoned
monsters keep him buysy.

Tactic that works and makes things easy:
While he's blue cast all kinds of pretections (fire, evil, stoneskins, spirit
armor etc) and haste (most important) and Resist Fear.
Station your mages (if you have two) along the walls well away from him. Array
your fighter/cleric types all around him. Bezerk anyone you can (Korgan Minsc).
If you are a high enough level have your clerics blade barrier themselves. Kai
your Kensai, Stunning Blow/Quvivering Palm your monk.
Summon up a few critters for him to play with and put them right up next to him
as well (note, gate doesn't let you do this since those creatures arrive red and
will start the right immediately).
Pause, have your mages both cast lower resistance at the same time. Unpause as
soon as they are about to cast have all your fighters attack at the same time.
The goal is to get in a lot of damage in a short period of time before he can
fight back. Once both LR's have hit he's not magic immune and I start hosing him
with Melf's Acid Arrows. They do sure damage and can have the lingering effect
that ruins his spells. If you have a cleric/druid with insect swarm it might be
worth keeping him/her out of the mix to toss this spell on him once his MR
drops. Anyway, once you can pour spells on him he's pretty much toat.
Strange... Me I use mostly fighters to kill him.
My wizards only were casting "dispel magic" and the like (mostly the
variant that only dispel spells on foe, I don't know the english name);
and the fighter were in haste/chant/bless/strength potion/defensive
harmony and so on.
