Help - Bard Vs. Mage?

Here's my opinion to help you in your choice.

First of all I was never able to get Xan, the mage at the bottom of the
mines. Once Gerrick hit level 5 I bought him the magic missile spell, and
low and behold he can cast the spell with 3 magic missiles doing pretty
impressive damage and he's got over 30+ hit points, plus he has thieving
abilities and can use the bow pretty well.

Another thing to help you in your decision is than other than Xan's +3 sword
he sorta sucks as I've heard. You can pick up a really wicked mage later on
in the game, as I just did :)

I prefer Xan myself. Just do what I did. Picl up Xan, then go back and get the bard later.

Thanks for the info. I guess I did not know that the bard could cast
any spells! I need to read the manual. The only valid reason for Xan
is to learn a cast more spells, but as long as the bard can weld a
mean wand, I guess I should not complain!
