I've run into some vampiric wolves East of the temple that is north of
Beregost and my weapons don't seem to do much damage to them. Even if
I draw them off one at a time, the one kills my whole party. I have
three of the party using bows/crossbows (me, Imoen & Garrick) with, I
think, piercing arrows, Jaheira is using a sling with +1 bullets and
Khalid has a halberd. I read somewhere that they are immune to normal
weapons, but there are no magic weapons available yet, so what can I
use to kill them? Other problem is they cast paralyze on one member at
a time, attacking until that member is dead and there's nothing I can
do to help them. I'd really like to get my revenge on these wolves!

Just leave 'em alone until you get some magical weapons... you don't have to
clean the temple area out to progress in the main plot, so just come back
later when you have 3 fighters with magic swords and/or you have some magic
arrows. Magic wands will hurt them as well as a Magic Missile spells.

You know, I mentioned just yesterday how easy it is for a party to get
in over their heads in Baldur's Gate, and I mentioned this specific
example as one of the more annoying possibilities.

My suggestion is to leave the vampire wolves alone until you're a few
levels higher and have magical weapons for everyone.

If you want a magical weapon early in the game, try getting Imoen (having
got at least her first level up) to nick the bastard sword +1 out of the
chest in the beregost blacksmith... Since Kalid had large sword weapon
proficiency, it seemed obvious then to give the sword to him to use.

General tip: If you find any fat green potions throughout the game (potion
of free action) they will prevent you from being "frozen" by nasties such as
vampiric wolves.

Well you can't, can you .. if they need +1 or better weapons, and you
don't have any, then the smart thing to do is to run away. Similarly if
you trip over a basilisk, and you don't happen to be stone proof at the
time, run away.

The 'Minsc see, Minsc charge, Minsc kill' approach is a fast route to a
homeless hamster.

I think the "come back later with better weapons" is good advice. Just
helps to know what I need to come back later with. One question re:
the green potion... I assume it should be taken before any action-how
long does it last? Thanks for the feedback!

I wouldn't worry too much about the green potion. I just killed these
wolves not too long ago. I had me (Paladin), Minsc, and Khalid with +1
swords take them all out without getting paralyzed (just concentrate all
three on one wolf at a time. Meanwhile I had Imoen using a Wand of Magic
Missiles on them and Dynaheir casting Magic Missile on them. Battle ended
pretty quick.

He's talking about a potion of Free Action... which you can probably buy
from some of the merchants and/or temples.

A useful strategy -

1) Get loads of magic arrows. (Always a worthwhile investment.)
2) Set your archers (with magic arrows) in "Guard Mode" with a wide circle.
3) Send a thief out (hiding in shadows and automatic attack off) until she
sees the vampire wolves.
4) She should let off a single arrow to get their attention and run back to
the rest of the group.
5) Watch the fun as the archers take out the wolves at a distance.

I always found the vampire wolves quite easy to beat.
