[2] If you are *NOT* romancing Jaheira but have her in the party, how
long would you expect it to take, either in game time or in real time
(whichever is appropriate) between the death of Dermin Courtierdale and
the appearance of "Terminsel"? I killed Dermin just before going off to
Spellhold. I am now back in Athkatla, some 20 game days and three
chapters later. No sign of him. When I last played, I romanced Jaheira,
and similarly killed Dermin before leaving for Spellhold. Terminsel
turned up just after I got back, in fact he turned up just after the
Drizzt ambush. What are the conditions necessary for Terminsel to
appear, in the absence of the Jaheira romance?
[3] Why are some items - Horn of Silence, Methild's Harp - worth zero
gold pieces to a shopkeeper, when they are patently useful and should be
sellable?
[4] I've heard tell of an encounter between a merchant called "Qadeel"
and a pair of overworked ogres in the Bridge District. At what time of
day, and at what location on the map, can this encounter occur?
[5] What are the conditions necessary to start Mazzy and Jan's other
sub-quests (Jan's sick girlfriend, and Mazzy's poisoned sister)?
Character level? Total time that character has spent with the party?
Time elapsed since the character first joined the party (which latter
thing I know to be the case with such things as Anomen's knighthood), or
time elapsed since they last completed a quest (e.g. the amount of time
between Edwin's finding the Nether Scroll and his transformation, and
then the transformation *back* again when Edwin(a) is tracked down by
his/her enemy)?
Please don't bother answering unless you KNOW (no guessing) the answer.
Jonathan.
Don't know, I've never had this encounter.

It's based on real time, not game time. According to some people, it is 5
real days. According to others, it is less. When you are romancing Jaheira,
it is of course based on the romance dialogues (but then, you knew that).

Because they are erroneously marked as unsellable. The Flail of Ages has a
similar anomaly - it is worth about 1300 gp, but no merchant will buy it off
you.

You have to go down the steps to the actual 'dock' area by the Five Flagons.
They are round the corner from the steps. I believe they are there any time
during daylight hours.

They are both based on time since they were last recruited into the party
(so if you drop them then pick them back up, the timer restarts). AFAIK, the
timer is set to between 7 and 10 days in both cases.
Everytime I had Mazzy in the party he was there whenever I was there,
regardless of level (I've been anywhere between 8 and 13), reputation, and
Mazzy's time (went once after 1 day, once after 10 days, and he was there)
Funny - he's never been there for me. Not in chapter 2, not in
chapter 3, not in chapter 6, not at any time of day that I can discover.
I've had Massy in the party for 17 days, the last 14 of them
consecutively, and completed the Umar Hills in that time - and visited
the Copper Coronet both before and after doing so. No sign of Gorf the
Squisher at all. I even had to cheat him in *last* game, and will
probably have to do so again this game if I want to meet him...
Jonathan.
For some once-a-day items like Namarra you have to sleep a day
before they get their one daily charge back, after which
shopkeepers are willing to pay decent money for them.
Not sure if this is the same as what happens with those items
you mentioned.
Perhaps you could try using them once, resting to recharge them,
and then selling them.

I didn't get it either. Maybe it has something to do with when you
decide to break up the slave trade?
Jojo
It's wierd. Whenever we have gone to the CC with Mazzy for the first
time the Ogre is there but he attacks an innocent bystander after
insulting Mazzy so we just kill him and that as they say is that.
Ogre a la carte for all the starving homeless people who live there.
I heard they are supposed to challenge one another but maybe I am just
impatient -- an ogre starts beating on a homeless beggar and I kill
the ogre, it's just a natural reaction.
I thought the NPC wasn't actually killed, merely knocked out.. and if
you wait long enough, he'll get up and run away.

That makes it okay for the ogre to hit him?
(I'm guessing you've linked one of the "kill"s in Phaenar's post to the
beggar, but look again. He talks about his party killing the ogre, not
about the ogre killing the beggar.)
