can anyone tell me exactly what she's saying? i'm just dying to know!
thanks :)
If you turn on subtitles you'll see she says "Faster than Chiktika
Fastpaws"
No, I don't know what it means either, but it definitely grates after
a few minutes...
Mike
She's saying 'Faster than Chatika Fastpaws' the cute badger companion
to the god of Gnomes.
Chiktikka Fastpaws = A companion of a Gnomish god, Baervan. IIRC it is a
squirrel (or badger or something like that). Known to be really quick in
action (like DEX 20 or something). Hence the quote 'FASTER than Chiktikka
Fastpaws' will mean like really really swift. Err... although I doubt Aerie
is capable of that :-)
Now, why Aerie a winged elf worships a gnome god. Obviously because she was
raised mostly by Quayle.
There is also an interesting dialogue between Aerie and Keldorn about faith,
but I cant recall it now. Maybe time for some infinity explorer!
Oh yeah, is dreadlocks the current trend in Amn? Every other woman except
for Viconia has some dreads on them.

OK, how about;
1)It's a different Quayle. All of those blasted gnomish illusionist/clerics
look alike. Or maybe "Quayle" is a gnomish ecclesiastical job title, like
"Father" or "Deacon".
2)Quayle briefly left the circus to join you in your adventures. His "nice"
persona is only shown in Aeries presence, and the smug and smarmy persona he
displayed in your group is his true self.
3)Quayle was only with the cicus about a month, as was Aerie. The whole "I
lost my wings" thing happened around the time you were receiving parades in
your honor in Baldurs Gate.
4)The party you were captured with included your character, Jaheira, Kalhed,
Minsc, Dynahar, and Imoen. Because it is impossible in the forgotten realms
to travel in groups of more than six people, Quayle was never in your party,
and if you remember things differently it must be an after effect of the
"experiments".
Any other ideas?
How about an explanation for the reason why he doesnt recognise you? Infact
the only person that does remeber you is viconia, who I never encounted in
BG. Ok, how about, Quayle left Amn to pick up some illusionist spells from
Sorcerous sundries, and met up with the protagonist, when he returned to
Athkatla he discovered that there was a bookeeper only a stone's throw away
from his own circus, this caused him to go into a complete state of madness,
where he ran around like a headless chicken until he hit his head on one of
his roulette tables. Upon waking up, he remembers nothing of his trip to
Baldurs Gate and decides to get on with his life.
Ah yes! Even better explanation, the Quayle in Baldurs Gate is a
Doppleganger! They all are!
Nah, too far-fetch.

Possible. I never actually had Quayle in my party in BG. Stupid of the
developer to put joinable NPCs so late in the game. By then, no one could
catch up. Unless you're the type who refuse to reload after your NPCs got
gibbed.

Aerie lost her wings before she met Quayle. I think Quayle only know her for a
few months or so ... that is, the period between your victory in BG and your
capture in SoA.

In SoA, you could potentially have known all NPCs. After all, while there is a
6 person limit, you could have adventure with them for a short period of time
(which is what I did in my first game... join, kick, join, kick ... ) ...
although my response to them are almost ... "Aren't you dead?"
Note the class 'ILLUSIONIST'. lol, dammit, all em gnomes have got nothing
better to do than to cast some illusion trick to make em all look the same
and call themselves Quayle.
Is quayle like the gnome version of smith?
This of course begs the question of how she became a 7/7 Cleric/Mage
in just a few weeks

:-) I loved that sourcebook.
Actually, she "a few weeks" is all it takes for your party of 7th level
miscreants to jump up to 13th level or whatnot. Advancement can happen very
rapidly in "game time" if you don't sleep after every battle.

Yes but that can be said of pretty much every NPC in BG2. How did Nalia
become a seventh level Mage? Why is Anomen still not in the order
despite being a higher level then you were when you saved the Sword
Coast from war? Of course some NPC's levels are believable, like Keldorn
or to a lesser extent Mazzy.

She also says, "In Baervan's name, it shall be done!"
Baervan is a gnomish God of nature or some such, and Chiktikka Fastpaws is
his animal companion.

Private tuition.
> Why is Anomen still not in the order despite being a higher level then you

The Orders campaign versus the Hillgnasher giants is the obvious answer.
Anomen obviously sat back casting a couple of cure light wounds, waiting
for his fighter abilities to come back whilst Sir William Nice-but-Dim
slaughtered friend and foe alike with his Harbinger sword.
Plus it is mentioned that Anomen would have been allowed entry if it
weren't for his bad attitude.
> Of course some NPC's levels are believable, like Keldorn

Not really. Mazzy's god-given abilities make her ridiculously powerful
(especially if she used BG1 haste rules). Extreme strength whenever
she wants it, 2 healing spells, 2 resist fears, 2 hastes and all these
abilities
increase in power as she increases level! All this is in addition to those
ultra-low hobbit saving throws... It's amazing that the Shade Lord managed
to capture her in the first place, Shadow Dragon or not.
Mike Hall (who can't explain how Ajantis was defeated so easily by the
party)
Ok maybe the special abilities are a bit stupid but I was just saying
that you can believe shes a level 9 Fighter, as she led an adventuring
group and everything.
Jans level is of course completely stupid and out of proportion with
everything else in the game. What with all his meetings with the avatars
of gods he should be a level 30/30 Thief Mage.
