I screwed up the romance initially by fooling around with the drow chick in
the underdark. Personally i thought it justifiable to not put the party in
danger by claiming i was physically unable to perform. i mean, come on,
surely she would have been suspicious if a studly drow male said he couldn't
do the deed :). Anyway, Jaheira of course disagreed.
After returning from the underdark, i finally downloaded shadowkeeper and
reset jaheiraromance variable to 1.
From what i remember reading, that should start the romance path progressing
again. However, that has been some time ago, game time and real time with
game paused, and i have yet to receive any further banter from J.
i have since done several side quests, Umar Hills, Firkraag etc. and have
rested in the wilderness several times. I still have the Edwin Harper quest
to do, but i don't remember reading that being part of the J romance path.
Help would be appreciated. I remember some time ago someone posting a link
to a J romance walkthrough, but i cannot find the site now. That may be all
the help i need, but now i'm kinda at a loss.
Thanks
Taz
Edwin Harper quest? : blinks: What is that? Edwin has nothing to do
with the Harpers.
(1) Don't sleep with Phaere. You always have the option of telling her
that you belong to another - and then refusing to tell that other's
name, in which case Phaere will assume it is someone her equal in rank
who prefers to keep the liaison secret.
(2) If you *do* sleep with Phaere, tell Jaheira that you were forced to
do so, but you must have a high reputation otherwise Jaheira will
believe you are lying to her.
(3) Or get off with Viconia instead, she doesn't mind at all if you
sleep with Phaere. Aerie, on the other hand, *does* mind - under ALL
circumstances, and won't give you the chance to make an excuse.
Jonathan.
(changed the subject because this is not an answer to the original
question)

...which you are, since there are lots of ways to avoid sleeping with
Phaere.
3) Don't lie to Jaheira. Apologize. She'll forgive you if you do that.
Got the quest before goin to Imoen, but put it off till after. Do have
access to the compound. I believe i returned a beat up druid to the guys at
the front door, and J talked them into giving me access. All this took
place before getting immy and reseting the romance variable to 1.
Thanks again...sorry for the confusion

Good advise, but i'm way past that now.
At the time, i thought i'd made the appropriate response on number (2) of
your options. As i recall, i chose, or at least tried to choose, that
conversation path with J. Ended with her saying she needed some time to
think or to herself or whatever. At the time i didn't think it ended the
romance. Hence, i waited until after was out of underdark to get
shadowkeeper and check. By then, the variable was at 3. Drat.
Don't remember the option of not telling Phaere who the significant other
was, but i'll take your word that that option exists. Should have been
smart enough to choose it, but oh well.
Thanks for response....

Ah, Xzar. Yes, his quest is essential to starting the Jaheira romance.
Dunno how i confused the names. I'll say it was because Xzar is kinda like
Xan from BG1, Edwin from BG1 is in BG2, and they're both (IMHO) annoying
wizards. So it was a natural mistake that anyone could've made. Yeah,
that's it, that's the ticket.
Taz.
