Well, as the header indicates, I have just completed Baldurs Gate II on the PC. As per usual, the
ending was complete pants. I was wondering if anyone has ever completed a long game like this,
especially a roleplaying one, and actually been fairly happy with the ending?
I think BGII has been quite possibly the biggest anti-climax I have ever known for a game.

Anyway, now that I have completed it, does that mean that my saved game just before the last
encounter is now redundant? Is there any way of getting back to the 'surface', and just carrying on
with things at all? I have got so much unfinished stuff to do, and I would love to see what it all
turns out to be like. For instance, I have got the Silver Blade and the Silver Hilt - the item
desription for both of these say that they can be magically reforged back together. I also killed
two Litches, and got some gold arms and legs, along with a gold chest. One of the Liches mentioned
there being three parts to the treasure, so what happens when I find the gold head?
I would prefer to just carry on with the characters I have got, as opposed to starting all over
again. I know that you can import your characters to Icewind Dale, and the forthcoming expansion
pack for BGII as well.
By the way, I finished the game with The Main Character, Minsc, Mazzy, Keldorn, Anomen, and Nalia.
I didnt bother teaming up with Imoen once I rescued her, as her spells were too weak. I also got
rid of Haer'dalis, as I thought he was just a bit crap, despite the book mentioning him being a good
character. Did anyone have a bit more luck with him than I did?

Now, if only the Final Fantasy games could be as much fun as Baldurs Gate II, eh?

The ending was anti-climatic for a reason...............Ding, ding! You
guessed it there's an expansion set coming out. You'll be able to continue
your adventures, the romances, etc., from your previous game, so keep that
saved game.

Not from that save, but if you have one from before Suldanesselar...

So start the game again... use a new party. I enjoyed my second
time through the game a lot more than my first time. A lot of the areas
I'd been through so long ago that they were still somewhat new to me.
I still walked into a lot of traps...

He puts himself together and rewards you...

I'd recommend starting all over again... choose different classes
for your PC (or try having multiple PCs in multi-player mode).

Not Icewind Dale... you mean "Neverwinter Nights". ID takes place
before BGII.

Make sure to get some different NPCs your second time through...
maybe play evil and go with Jan, Haer'Dalis, Edwin, Korgan and Vic.

I'm not finished with BG2 yet . I only read the bottom of your post ;-)
But I do have Hear'dalis in my party. You know I like the guy. He reminds me
of some people in a theatre group back in my school days...

Technically he sucks. I already had him kicked - but it didn't feel right
somhow.
I still have Aerie with me. Aerie AND Hear'dalis is an interesting thing.
The best scene is after the confrontation with Irenicus at the end of
chapter 4.
I think I'll keep him till the end if possible.

Better yet, start again, importing your character. Then try with all
new NPC's.

Or start a multi-player game, import your old character and create 2
or 3 new ones, preferably using classes that aren't available in the
game - pure druid, monk, kensai, etc. Fill the rest of your slots
with new NPC's.

If you saved before getting tossed into hell then you can walk out of
suldanesselar the way you came in.

Congradulations on finishing the game. I'm currently going through it for
the fourth time, this time with my level 21 Monk who has already finished
the game once (and got some kickass abilities). One of the fun things IMHO
when playing again with such an ubercharacter is that you can clear most of
the early game levels all by yourself. THe second time through the game is
actually more fun in a way, because you find out things you've mist during
the first try. Like those litches you've killed, they are linked too a
sidequest which gives you a very good item (but also the thoughest fight, if
you don't know the weakpoints).

That stupid bard I've tried once. I was courting Aerie that time through,
and he started hitting on her, so he got dumped very quickly (not that he
was much use too the party). Only thing I didn't try in this game was
playing evil. Tried it once way back with BGI but only got as far as the
encounter with Minsc (who I had too kill because I was trying to be evil).
After I killed him I felt really bad and started over again playing my
normal goody-goody self. Now I can't have a party without Minsc (and Boo) in
it. Now I try to rotate the NPC's more than before, and try to find out what
combination gives the best innerparty dialogue.

See ya...
